I always love a good striped tee, and this long sleeve tee with little detail at the neck is so soft, you’ll want it in a couple of colors.  It fits true to size, can be worn alone or layered. I paired it with the camo shirt unbuttoned and another look with the reversible baseball jacket that is really on-trend this Fall. Both outfits I paired with my all-time favorite sneaker. (This is the coolest sneaker and one of my best-selling items.)

Here are a few tips on how to pull off retro fashion in 2021:

September 6, 2021

Here are a few tips on how to pull off retro fashion in 2021:

Here are a few tips on how to pull off retro fashion in 2021:

The term “retro” refers to anything that references the past, and we all know the fashion industry loves a good comeback. In fact, fashion stylist Heather Newberger says that clothing trends tend to go through 30-year cycles. For instance, we are now seeing a lot of denim popular in the 90s worn by the latest generation of fashionistas, and it’ll eventually reappear later down the line. So dressing retro is actually always in vogue.

Whether you have a closet to borrow retro items from or you’re working with modern pieces, here are a few tips on how to pull off retro fashion in 2021:

Mix and match colors and prints

The ‘80s were all about bright colors and loud prints, so don’t be afraid to match bright pants with an oversized shirt with a contrasting color. A loose black lace top with a bright mini skirt and neon tights is also an interesting ensemble. But, of course, if you don’t feel brave enough for a loud outfit, you can add some modern pieces instead. Our ‘Tulle at Any Age’ feature shows how you can pair the fabric with denim and patterned heels to dress it down.

Rock retro sneakers

Retro sneakers are classics, and because of how versatile they are, they’re easy to pair with any outfit. In particular, though, retro sneakers give off a laid-back sporty aesthetic. For example, Reebok’s skate-inspired Club C sneakers are a minimalistic pair with a white base and a few green highlights, making them perfect for a casual yet put-together look. Meanwhile, the Nike Daybreak sneakers provide a pop of color with orange and brown. Retro sneakers tend to have muted colors, neutral tones, or minimalistic designs so that you can rock them with any outfit.

Shop some Retro kicks below:

Consider interesting shapes

When thinking about outfit shape and retro-style designs, one image that comes to mind is bell-bottom jeans. In the ‘70s, especially, pants were also hip huggers and high-waisted. They also tended to have designs like embroidery, embellishments, and studs. But, of course, you can also go for some color, such as Alexander McQueen’s mid-rise flared pants or the Rebecca Vallance Amina high-rise flared crepe pants, as the ‘70s was also the time of glam rock and disco fashion. Meanwhile, the ‘50s were all about dresses with soft shapes and defined waists.

Shop some great flares I love below:

Accessorize, accessorize, accessorize

For ‘80s retro-Style, the chunkier and louder, the better. Go crazy with colored bangles, wear your large neon sunglasses, and clip on a pair of statement earrings. The ‘70s have more neutral and natural accessories, such as jewelry made of wood, shells, stones, and feathers. But if you’re going for the disco vibe, then think glitter and anything shiny that will go with your equally sparkly outfit. The ‘60s are a lot calmer with its flower headbands, gypsy scarves, and leather moccasins. Finally, for the ‘50s, use faux fur, gloves, and cat eye-shaped sunglasses.

Give your hair some life.

The common theme with ‘80s hairstyles was that they were big and used a lot of hairsprays. Allure has a list of styles that you might want to try if you’re feeling adventurous, from the simple Whale Spout ponytail to the more daring permed fe-mullet. The ‘70s hairstyles were either feathered and messy or parted in the middle. The ‘60s had the most relaxed hairstyles, with hair usually just hanging loose. In the ‘50s, it was all about looking proper. So you can either tightly curl your short hair or make a bouncy ponytail or do the curled and pinned hairstyle for long hair, as long as you put on a lot of hairspray afterward.

At the end of the day, there’s no right way to wear retro-style fashion. After all, fashion is all about self-expression, and pulling ideas from the previous decades adds your own dynamic spin to retro fashion.

Thank you for stopping by, I hope you enjoyed today’s read!

It has a lot of fabric, so size down, Ties at the neck, and has a lower back. I am in size small. For fall, you could style with a blazer or leather jacket. Going on a Tropical Vacation? This would be darling over a swimsuit.

7 Fall Transition Looks From Evereve!

Fall Transition Looks with incorporating in some on-trend pieces for Fall 2021.

Let’s talk Evereve for a minute. Evereve is a contemporary woman’s fashion boutique geared towards moms and Midlifers who want to look Chic, feel good, and love good quality clothing. I personally love the brands they carry and how they fit. Talking about fit, Evereve has a personal stylist on hand to help you choose the right pieces for your body if that is something you want help with. They’re there to make you look your best while helping to make your shopping experience easy. I never leave the shop empty-handed.

7 Fall Transition looks from Evereve

Fall Transition= It’s that time of year when we start thinking Fall. The kids are heading back to school, which means school shopping and shorter days are approaching. Finally, we get a few cooler mornings & evenings, and Summer is coming to an end. I will share some fun ways to take some of your Summer pieces and transition them into a Fall look while incorporating some Fall 2021 on-trend pieces from EverEve.

Here are a few of this year’s trends. What’s even better is they are so easy to mix & match! I incorporated:

  1. Camo (yes, it’s still strong as well as Stars)
  2. Cargo Pants= Jogger Style and Skinny
  3. Cropped Cardigans with big buttons (hip bone length)
  4. Chunky Kicks
  5. Mules
  6. Chunky chain details
  7. Blazers
  8. Shacket (a shirt / Jacket) This year, it’s more fitted, not as bulky
  9. Braided detail (shown on booties)                                                                                                                            (There are several more Fall Trends, and all share those soon in a post)

The Look above is a great casual chic look that’s easy to achieve using your Summer Camis and Denim Jacket. Worn with these darlings Camo Joggers and chunky New Balance Kicks. (I love the nubby details) STYLING TIP: Pulling the joggers up a bit makes it look weather appropriate and Chic! I can easily wear a graphic tee versus a camis.

Shop the look below:

In this look, I am wearing the same pieces as above, swapping out the denim jacket for this year’s on-trend cardigan. Note: The cardigan is hip length and has large buttons (you’ll be seeing this a lot). Adding the chunky chain mules instead of Kicks. This gives a less casual look to the joggers.

Shop the look:

Another way to wear camo and cargo but in the skinny leg, very leg flattering if that’s one of your body features you like to focus on. (I do as my trouble area is my middle) paired with the mules again, but you could wear the Kicks if you wanted to. I liked the mules with the blazer, although blazers and tennis shoes are trending as well. Note: The Blazer is more fitted and has cute sleeve detail and collar.

Shop the look:

(The tee is in stock in stores but unfortunately wasn’t linkable. )

Cargo loving again! This pair is a Satin finish skinny cargo, again leg flattering and very affordable.  Wearing the same graphic tee, pulling out the denim jacket and the tennis shoes. Gives a totally new look, but your using your pieces multiple time. A great way to get versatility out of your clothing. Perfect pieces of packing for a trip!   Shop the Look below:

Taking that Summer Tee shirt dress into Fall with Braided Booties and Shacket. The shacket has been trending for about 3 years and really came on strong last year! It was Oversized (a Jacket skirt combo) and normally bulkier. I love how this year, the trending Shacket is shorter and more fitted, a thicker flannel if you will.  Shop the Look:

Days when it’s still warm enough for shorts, but you want a little cozy, Add a fun Cropped cardigan worn over a cami or tee, even wear it alone and buttoned up. (cardigans worn alone is trending) Paired with braided detail booties. It’s a fun Fall transition look.  Shop the look:

Summer cropped jeans, give them a Fall update with Chunky Chain mules and a Printed leopard cardigan. So easy to wear and light enough layers, you won’t get too hot.  Shop the Look:

What pieces Came home with me! Yup, I told you I never leave empty-handed! Actually, I own a version of almost all of these pieces. Like I said there easy to style, very versatile, and can be worn in many seasons. So why did I choose these 4 pieces to come home with me?

Shacket due to the new flattering styling, and I adored the color, not to mention I have a version of the dress. Joggers, I purchased the shorts and adored them all Summer, so I knew these Joggers would be a favorite. Free People gets me every time, and this chunky cropped cardigan was a piece I knew I would style on repeat. Finally, kicks…well, I am a sucker for shoes, and the details on these got me!      Shop the look:

Drug Store Makeup finds, Perfect for Midlife!

July 30, 2021

Drug store makeup finds, perfect for midlife skin.

Drug store finds you’ll love for your skin over 40! With the help of my Makeup artist sister, Tiana Holiday.  I tested out the top picks she recommends to her clients over 40, Who may want cheaper drug store makeup options. Her criteria were, it doesn’t settle into wrinkles, is long-wearing, and gives you a great bang for your buck.

I went shopping and happily tested out options she said would work on my skin and compare to some of the products I use. Wait till you read what I found out below.

Drug Store Make up, Perfect for Midlife!

Drug Store Make up, Perfect for Midlife!

Here is the list of Drug store make up finds I tried and tested out:

  1. Loreal- Infallible pro-glow 201 (replaces foundation)

2. Maybelline- City Bronzer (replace Mac or your favorite bronzer)

3. Milani-Cheek Kiss (Replace dry blush)

4. Loreal- Powder True Match N4 (To replace Mac)

5. Elf-Monochromatic Multi-stick in Glistening Perch (

6. Loreal Voluminous- Carbon Black  (To Replace- Lancome)

7. Maybelline- line express eyeliner in Brown  (REPLACE – MAC Teddy)

8. Wet & wild Kohl crayon -brown (she didn’t recommend this one) I just thought I’d try…

9. Nyx micro brow pencil Taupe

10. Loreal Brow Stylist blond

11. Milani- Lip Stains

12.  Maybelline -Eye shadow pallet, expert wear

Shop the photo Below:

  1. The Benefits: Loreal Infallible:

    • Wears up to 24 hours
    • Hydrates skin with a natural glow
    • Instantly conceals imperfections
    • Lightweight formula feels luxe on the skin
    • Protects skin with SPF 15
    • The Basics:
      • Finish: dewy
      • Coverage: medium
      • Best for: normal to dry skin
    Loreal Infallible Pro-Glow Foundation

I loved this product and how it made my skin look! This is a product I will use from now on. ( I only use it in the Fall and Winter) It’s perfect for older skin. Doesn’t sink into wrinkles or look dry and cakey. Perfect for aging skin. Your skin actually glows.

  2. Maybelline City Bronzer-This product was also a winner in my book! It gives a great Sun-kissed look without settling into lines.

City Bronzer Makeup is Maybelline’s 1st bronzing and contouring powder that delivers a sun-kissed makeup look and sculpted makeup look.  Benefits:

    • Formulated with whipped cocoa butter
    • Get all over bronzing, subtle contouring, or natural makeup look
    • This bronzer and contour powder is ideal for creating multiple makeup looks
    3. Milan Cheek Kiss_ The cream looks so pretty on your skin verses the dry look of powder. Again a cream is better on older skin as it helps to keep you from looking dry. Keeper

    Features

    • Ultra-blendable and buildable, lightweight creamy liquid formula
    • Multi-use, easy-to-apply blush lets you control the flush factor
    • Available in shades to flatter all skin tones
    • Vegan
    • Cruelty-Free

    Benefits:

    • Infused with skin-loving ingredients like Pomegranate, Rose Extract and Watermelon
    4. Loreal Powder, If you like the finish of powder, this one doesn’t settle into wrinkles and gives a nice soft finish.

    5. Elf-Monochromatic Multi-stick in Glistening Perch = Gives a beautiful glow (see my cheecks) Again, it’s a cream.

    6. Loreal Voluminous- Carbon Black  (To Replace- Lancome) Benefits, I used this in my high school years and always loved. Loreal is owned by Lancome. Seriously, the mascara is hard to tell the differnce between the two.

    • Bold, volume building mascara for up to 5x fuller and thicker lashes
    • Separates and builds every lash
    • Clump-free and smudge-resistant mascara
    • Contains Panthenol and Ceramide-R and helps protect and condition lashes

    7. Maybelline line express eyeliner- in Brown  (REPLACE – MAC Teddy)

    • Easy to blend formula is perfectly paired with a smudging tool for any eye look, from subtle to dramatic, Creamy, smooth color impact for a variety of eyeliner looks. Does what it say’s and its a great product. I still perfer Spending the money on the Mac eyeliner, as I feel it last longer and stays put.  MAC Teddy eyeliner.

    8. Wet & wild Kohl crayon -brown (she didn’t recommend this one) I just thought I’d try… This one is not great, it runs and doesnt last all day.

    9. Nyx micro brow pencil Taupe

    • A micro mechanical brow pencil that shapes, defines and fills in sparse brows for a natural look. This is great if you dont have alot to fill in. It does stay on. I do perfer my Charlott Tillbury  worth every penny and last months. Shop Here

    10. Loreal Brow Stylist blond

A dual pencil with a brow pencil and a brush. I purchased the color blond and I needed to go a little darker, as my brows are so blond, I need to darken them up. ( I actually have my eyebrows dyed) and use a pencil to give shape and fill them in a little. This would have worked had I gotten the right color.

    11. Milani- Lip Stains

Smudge resistant satin matte finish, soft suede-like feel, Delivers long-lasting hydration. These Lip stains are just as good as City Beauty $38 and ShadeM $18 Milani is a great deal at $7.99! I love these Lip stains, All 3 are not drying or make your lips flake. They truly are all long lasting and come in beautiful colors. Seriously, you cannot go wrong with these stains. (All have a great selection of colors and several different shades from each brand.)

    12.  Maybelline -Eye shadow pallet, expert wear
This eyeshadow makeup quad boasts extraordinary color thanks to ultra-blendable jet-milled pigments. Delivers a silky finish that lasts up to 12 hours and really is so easy to use. If you struggle with appling eyeshadow, and never know what to put where, this eyeshadow is “color by numbers” for Woman. I love how easy it is to use, I really love its 4 colors only and they are the colors I would use out of some of my big pallets and have all of these extra colors I am never going to use. The shadows really do last all day.

No Cook Dinner, Perfect for Summer! Charcuterie Board

July 26, 2021

No-Cook Dinner, Perfect for Summer! Charcuterie Board

“Kitchens are made for bringing families together.”  Sunday dinner has always been an important part of our family’s weekly routine. When we lived in California, it was the day that ALL the family, grandparents, aunts, uncles, everyone was welcome, came over to enjoy a meal. A fun time to catch up on the week, spend time together chatting over a good meal: a special time and a special day. When we moved to Utah, our crowd was smaller, but the idea was the same, and over the years, our crowd has grown. Friends that have become family added girlfriends, and occasionally out-of-state family.

The importance of Sunday dinner and sharing recipes has become popular on my Instagram stories that I started sharing “In the Kitchen with D’Arcy” on my Sunday posts. Find HERE. I realized my blog following wanted more recipe content as well. With that being said, Sunday’s blog post will be dedicated to Recipes and sharing an occasional Family meal at our favorite restaurants, and showing our support for supporting local businesses.

Today, over on Instagram, I shared A great, No-cook Dinner…A Charcuterie Board perfect for a large crowd, a great Sunday dinner, with something for everyone. We love to enjoy on the deck🥖🧀🫕🍓🍎  and take in the beauty of Summer. A charcuterie board makes for great conversation, talking about cheeses and crackers, the combinations you like, and the fun of creating combos you’ll enjoy.

Drop it like it’s HOT…. Balancing Menopause and m Drop it like it’s HOT….

Balancing Menopause and midlife can be tricky✔️

From weight gain, mood swings, sleepless nights, dry skin and lady parts, hair loss, eyesight issues, bone loss to personal summers (hot flashes)…..

Boy hitting 40-50-60’s sounds fun 😅🤣 Actually, it really isn’t that bad, and life is what you make of it, Plus getting old is a privilege….

In today’s time, we’re lucky because menopause is a Topic WE TALK about NOW, and we have more information and resources to HELP us, unlike our mothers.

Not everyone has every symptom nor do they experience every symptom.

This is a topic I’ve shared a lot about over on my blog and in future more on my substack (join for free in my bio)

Below ⬇️ are a few things I’ve found very helpful from my journey over the last 10 years to now, starting at about 44 years old.

-A Homeopathic Hormone replacement specialist- I went at 44 when I gained 12-15 pounds for no reason, had hair loss and wasn’t feeling like myself and went on Bio- identical hormone replacement for about 4 years and the weight feel off and I started to feel like myself again. I stopped I. 2020 due to not being able to get to doctors..

-Start a good clean supplement program (not a Doctor) but here’s what helped me.
Magnesium- zinc- Vitamin D3- vitamin K
-a good women’s multivitamin -
B-12 shots- Collagen- Colostrum- bone marrow- probiotic, a cranberry supplement and - creatine - NAD- primrose (I have a few others I take as well) full list is on blog

- Doubled my water intake - (140-160 oz a day) added Fiber- chia seeds- pinch of salt to it … (I do 1/2 teaspoon baking soda twice a week)

-Daily walks and I added a weighted vest about 4 years ago

-A cup of warm lemon water to start the day

- I shoot for 100 grams of protein daily (I don’t always get this) I just try to get close

-Scalp treatments - Rosemary oil and rosemary supplements

- Coolnight pjs and cooling sheets I don’t get or experience hot flashes, but sleeping cooler help me sleep better❤️

- cleansing oil & after Shower oil help with dry skin

-Red light therapy mask helps facial skin and neck

- Derma-planing face helps skin texture and for products to sink in
Melanoma Skin Cancer Journey Here’s a couple thi Melanoma Skin Cancer Journey

Here’s a couple things I’ve learned on my Journey that I thought I’d share with you I found interesting and very helpful..
( now, I am not a doctor) these are things I’ve researched and though I’d share my findings, but you can do your own research :)

I share in hopes to bring awareness and the importance of getting your skin checked at least once a year.

‼️ 2 things:

-The importance of taking zinc— zinc supplements helps your body give off a natural defense to the suns rays.

⚠️ Like anything I need to stress how important it is to read your labels and start using clean Supplements. You want to get what you’re paying for and not “fillers” verses the actual minerals and herbs.

- A clean beauty mineral based
Sunscreen with a high level of Zinc! READ your labels and the ingredientsll

MOST sunscreens have harmful ingredients and hormone disruptors in them! I have 5 brands I love that me and my family use over on my Liketoknowit or you can comment “shop” and I’ll send them to you.

To know:

⚠️ I get my skin checked twice a year and since being diagnosed with melanoma, I now go every 3 months.

Since my surgeries, I’ve had 2 laser’s treatments to help with scaring (shown in slide 2 is my 2nd surgery) done 6 weeks ago.
I actually should have my 3rd laser done this week, but I moved it to July 1st.

To be honest I really am not in the head space to deal with another treatment this week! 🙏🏻 I told you I’d be very honest with you in this journey, and it is a roller coaster of emotions… Laser treatments sometimes trigger that for me.

- Laser treatment can be done every 6 weeks

⚠️I have 6 parts of my journey up in my feed, 3 of them pinned to top the others you’ll have to scroll through feed and I have detailed highlights as well.

I hope you find these helpful

POV: The Turkey sandwiches I make All summer long POV:
The Turkey sandwiches I make All summer long my family loves🥪

Not your ordinary Turkey, Avocado, tomato sandwiche🥪🥑🍅

First off the Key to these delicious sandwiches is warm crusty bread straight from the oven yet soft on the inside..

My tip is a French baguette ran under water (a tip my Mother in law taught me 33 years ago) placed in the oven for 5-7 minutes- seriously, makes it like you made it fresh…

-Boards head spicy pepper Turkey freshly sliced from the deli
- Farm Fresh Tomatoes salt & peppered
-Micro greens (or sprouts)
- Peppered jack cheese (or your favorite)
-My Smashed Avocado spread

Full recipe on my blog

A perfect summer meal to serve alfresco🪴🍽️

Serve with your favorite sides
I served with my :
-Basil corn salad
- a small charcuterie board
- my easy Blue cheese stuffed grape on a walnut appetizer

A long with your choice of sun tea - cucumber mint water or a sparking water 🥤🍃

🚗Road Trip —Desserts and Pools—🌴🌊🌵🏜️🌺 Last leg of 🚗Road Trip

Last leg of trip…2 days in Las Vegas

- A couple days poolside
- A couple meals out
-Some shopping (just a little)
- and yes, we had early nights in…

We’ve been to LV so many times, that we actually don’t enjoy it any more, it’s changed so much over the years, that we actually prefer to have pool time (eat at pool) stay close or at our hotel… Walking the strip is more scary then fun, and the restaurants aren’t what they used to be… people watching isn’t even fun anymore there:(

Lately, We just think of LV as a resting point before we drive the 6-7 long hours home.

Over the years I’ve shared several amazing LV hotels, restaurants and shopping spots…. Some of those are still good, but several have gotten run down and aren’t the same. I honestly don’t feel safe in LV and probably won’t have that be a resting point anymore.

If you’re a gambler or like shows … then LV probably still has appeal, People don’t dress up anymore, the top quality restaurants & hotels aren’t what they used to be, and over priced for what you get. (Trust me we’ve stayed at almost all of the resort’s multiple times)
I personally think there’s better places to visit.

😉This is my observation and opinion over the last several times & years we’ve been to Lv.

How do you feel about Las Vegas?
Have you been recently?

Sorry, not sorry for my honest review!
