Lifestyle & Fashion Blogger over 50

My Goal is to help women look and feel good at any age and, at the same time, share positivity and a smile.

As a former Boutique owner of “Chic Style” and personal Stylist, I found my customers wanted to know more about my personal life, fashion tips, personal style, health & beauty tricks. At that time, I was over 40, but now I am over 50 (people never guess my age)! I was getting daily questions about what I do for my skincare, Midlife, Hormones & weight issues, and recipes. How do I style something & “dress for my body?” How do I make something, or how do I stay organized as a mom and business owner, “do I have a blank to borrow?”….(I collect stuff) I promise I am not a hoarder. I’m always happy to share my experience or any knowledge I might have.

Background in Interior Design

I have a decorating background (interior designer by trade) and have been the former owner of Pages of Tyme in California for 10 years. Being crafty and entertaining was a big part of my life. I can throw a party at any moment and share part of my life on the shop’s boutiques blog. Realizing I love helping and sharing tips with others, like Dear Abby! So this is where the idea of “Dear D’Arcy” was born! It is my place to share my style, tips, and tricks for caring for myself, living my life, getting things done, decorating, staying organized, and inspiring others to “Look good at any Age!”

I’m hoping I can share things that work for me to help you in some small way. Wanting you to feel like you can ask me anything, your girlfriend you can trust, and I will try to help you. From recipes to fashion, I’ve got you covered.

You can be a working mom who is chic, stylish, classic, and even trendy at any age!

Answers to questions that will help you get to know me better!

Where were you born? California (The beach is my inner peace)
When did you know your career would be in fashion or interior design? At about age 2, playing with Barbies… I loved creating outfits and building her House from scratch out of boxes.
What would you call your style? I dress for how I feel that day! I would say I am more classic and a little trendy. I love gorgeous layers and a great pair of jeans. Accessories finish an outfit; shoes make the outfit! I love mixing affordable with labels (my mom called me Lucy, the label lover).

What is your favorite color? Pale pink, I also love cream & gold!
What is your favorite color in your Home? I am obsessed with black and white, and I am in love with black and white stripes! These two colors make changing for the seasons so easy. Add a pop of color for that season, and it works.
Use single words to describe yourself. She is organized, hard-working, creative, outspoken, spiritual, loving, personable, honest, talkative, stylish!
Favorite Bible Verse: Philippians 4:13 all things!
My mom and my sister are the two female cheerleaders in my life. I adore them and am lucky to have them in my life. Both are very creative: My mom is a hairdresser, and my sister is a Hollywood make-up artist.

Children? Yes, I am a mom of two boys. Our oldest works with my husband in our family business, Vandenberg Construction, and the youngest works in the window business. Our oldest married his dream girl on August 24, 2024, in a glass chapel in the forest. Talk about a magical wedding!

Are you married? Yes, I have been married to my dream guy and my biggest supporter for 30 years. In February!

What does your hubby do? He owned ski shops in California for 25 years and a construction business building homes. Ben is a talented contractor who has been building and remodeling homes for over 40 years. We’ve done many flips over the years as a team; I design the homes, and he builds them. When we moved to Utah almost 19 years ago, He helped me with our clothing boutiques and started Vandenberg construction. In the winter, you’ll find him on the slopes. He’s also my photographer!

A Few Favorites:

What are a few of your favorite things? I love iced tea, entertaining, my porch, my family, cooking for my family, gardening, manicures I am obsessed with cute nails, bread ( I try not to eat it), Mexican food, creating cocktails, glitter, spray paint, decorating our home, traveling, and lake days. I would love to have a family compound!

What makes your blog different? Seeing fashion and beauty through the eyes of a “50-something” is a big difference. In my life experiences, I have been a business owner in 3 different creative fields (home decor and interiors, scrapbooking, and clothing boutiques). I show that you can change your career at any age. I love sharing things that work with my readers.

What are a few of your career achievements? Winning Kut from the Kloth’s National window display contest, South Ogden business association storefront display winner, guest fashion editor of Celestial Magazine, as well as being a stylist for six issues of Celestial Magazine, Two years with a monthly Fox 13 (The Place), fashion segments, organizing fashion shows for charity events, decorator chair for the Junior league Ogden Spring gala 2 years, a published scrapbook artist. To name a few of my favorites. Currently, I do a fashion segment on ABC’s Good Things Utah.
