Saying Goodbye to Summer…Fashion I am packing away!

Do you have those Summer pieces you wore over and over and are sad when it comes time to pack them away? These are pieces that don’t transition into Fall. Summer short, Summer Printed tops and dresses, Sandals you loved, and those perfect Straw hats and Fun Summer Bags. I sure do. These pieces I wore to death all summer long and genuinely hated having to pack them away, Partly because it means the end of summer and partly because these pieces brought me joy all summer long.

The linen shorts HERE from Old navy I purchase in the stripe and four solid colors. So affordable, comfortable, and easy to style. I wore with a tank or graphic tee and if not to hot-finished off with a denim jacket. Shop the whole look HERE. Picking up summer pieces on SALE for next year is always a great idea and like Christmas when you unpack your summer clothing!

My favorite sandal this year by far! I purchased my tan shoes from my girlfriends little boutique Rowan in California. Best purchase ever, I could have worn every day they worked with every outfit I put together. Forcing myself to grab other sandals (lord knows I own plenty!) Those fun straw bags and favorite espadrilles we all love and collect scream all things summer! I am a sucker for cute bags and shoes. They get me every season, but especially in the summer. These are very hard for me to say goodbye. The struggle is so real 🙂 but let’s face it transitioning these cuties into Fall is pushing it. It’s time to say goodbye for now and see you in a year. I like to store all my summer bags in the totes below; Clear bins are perfect so you can see them. I store all my Summer sandals in the shoe storage, also shown below.

I loved the Blazer and Bermuda shorts trend this year, Yes Blazer’s transition great into every season, but as I stated above, shorts are hard, especially in Utah. All though you can wear with a sweater and sweatshirt on chillier evenings or a crisp day, those days are far too little living here in Utah or Mountain communities. Packing these guys away, Tip, I like to roll all my shorts and store in bins showed below. Shop this look HERE

Although I love, I move all my Floral, summer printed tops, skirts, and dress in summer colors to the back of my closet. My Fall and Winter wardrobe is full of darker and more Fall & Winter seasonal colors. Black, gray, cream, wine, spiced, mustard, navy, etc. Shop this look HERE

Floral Prints and what to do?

Saying Goodbye to Summer…Fashion I am packing away! My love of floral prints always has me sad to see them go. Fall color florals transition into Fall, so you can keep those out for a little longer, but as I stated above, We should pack away summer florals. Note my favorite sandals here again:)

What do you do with those seasonal dresses?

Dresses can be so versatile and can be great wardrobe builders, but unfortunately, some dresses do scream their season, like above, it truly is a Summer/Spring dress. Find it HERE. Just like a sweater dress is a Fall/Winter dress. If you purchase a ton of this season’s tee shirt dress, You can keep those out and transition those into your Fall wardrobe by adding layers and wearing them with booties or tennis shoes. Suppose you have darker colored or dark or fall printed dresses that transition perfectly as well. Summer is one of my favorite seasons, being outside enjoying the weather, dining outside, enjoying the gardens, and the long days along with pool & lake time and entertaining outdoors. With all the fun things to do, you’ll need to look good doing them, right? Here are my 10 Summer favorites I can’t live without!

Shorts, I love every length short, but the Bermuda shorts are one of this seasons biggest trends. In every shade, style, and color, you can’t go wrong with a Bermuda short. They look great paired with a blazer too. Easy to wear and even easier to style. Anything goes with a cute pair of Bermudas. Here are some of my favorites.

Sandals are making my top 10 Summer favorite’s. I can’t live without, and I found some adorable ones I have been wearing to death. My picks are sandals you’ll wear all Summer long and truly are some classics you’ll be able to wear for several Summer seasons.

Summer dresses are one of my top Summer favorites. So comfortable to wear, easy to style, and keeps you looking Chic without a lot of effort. Here are some of my favorites and so affordable.

Making the 10 Summer Favorites you can’t live without! Summer Salads and one of my favorites would-be my Greek salad, So refreshing and light, I could eat it every day. This salad is so easy to make and you’ll love how tasty it is. You can eat it on a bed of romaine lettuce and a side of grilled chicken or just plain.

Greek Salad:

4 on the vine tomatoes cup up

1 English Cucumber cut up

1 cup Kalamata Olives

1 cup red onion chopped up

Italian dressing of your choice

Feta cheese (if doing whole30 leave off) use the amount you like

Add all items together and mix with dressing (I leave the cheese out and top my salad when I serve) As this makes enough for 4 servings. I like to make a batch and have it for a couple of lunches. Serve as is or on a bed of Lettuce of your choice, also great with grilled chicken.

I also enjoy a facial. Now more then ever, we have to maintain ourselves in ways we usually don’t. You know I love an excellent self-care day…maintenance is a little different than touching up our roots, doing eyelash extensions, or applying a set of nails. Here are a few tricks and products that are coming to the rescue.

Blondes that are having a little trouble with roots, baby powder works excellent, sprinkle in a little at the roots and rub with fingers. Tips for making your outdoor space inviting: throw pillows, a blanket for chilly nights, pots of flowers and plants, trays for serving and keeping things tidy. I love rugs to add color and define spaces, candles and lanterns for lighting (and keeping bugs away) I love some books or magazines to entice you to stay awhile 💛💛💛
Another big tip is if you furniture is mix & match spray paint it all 1 color to give it a cohesive look. It instantly makes it look more planned 😉

The Ultimate Summer Bucket List

With Summer arriving this week, I thought it would be fun to share my Summer Bucket List with you. It seems Summer comes and goes in a blink of an eye! It is one of my favorite seasons here in Utah, it is also my favorite time to be out enjoying our state, plus our town is just beautiful this time of the year. Here is my Summer bucket list… I hope some of them make your list too:)

Summer brings the prettiest wildflowers, which make for some very scenic drives along with all our beautiful lakes and mountains… So making my list is a Scenic Drive to Mirror Lake, Bear Lake, Little Cottonwood Canyon, and Sundance. Also, I love a weekend drive in my hubby’s convertible to take in the sights and get some fresh air.

Watermelon and Fruits of Summer is a pure pleasure, and everyone loves good food and food Events. Hitting the Salt Lake City and Park City Farmers Market is on my list. Here in Utah, several towns host a (Fruit Day) North Ogden has Cherry Days {info HERE}, Brigham City has Peach Days, Bear Lake has Raspberry Days, Melon Day is in Green River {More info on all 3 HERE} and Strawberry Days in Pleasant grove. {HERE}

Another great drive and has Fab Summer fruit is Utah’s Famous Fruit highway! {Here} This is always a must-do!

Pool time at several Las Vegas pools kicked off my Summer! Moorea Beach club & Delano Beach Club @Mandalay Bay,

Pool time is a great Summertime pleasure, and isn’t Summer without laying poolside or playing at a waterpark, am I right? So here are a few pool days that made my list: Grand America pool day, I’ve heard the cocktails are amazing, and the food poolside is just as impressive as the hotel. {HERE} Cowabunga Bay Water Park {HERE} We haven’t been to a water park in years, and it always brought joy to my boys. So I thought it would be fun to re-experience those playful childhood days with our boys… even though they’re young adults, it’s always fun to be a kid!

Random things to do that make Summer fun that made my List, Bowling; it’s always fun to have something to do on a hot Summer day! A Drive-in Movie (Every year, I say I want to go, and we never make it!) It’s going to happen this year… and I am not going to fall asleep! The last time I went to the drive-in was with my Childhood friend Selena… We were in college, and we BOTH fell asleep! We woke up to a dark empty parking lot at 1 am! LOL!! Miniature golf because, seriously, who doesn’t love a good game of Miniature golf?

It brings back memories of young Summer night dates! Summer Outdoor concerts we have tickets to Heart so far… but I know we’ll add more:) as the Summer plays out, and it’s one of my favorite ways to enjoy an evening. Warm nights, listening to music, enjoying friends and a good beer! Some great outdoor concert venues {HERE} {HERE} {HERE} {HERE} Some are even FREE!

The Rodeo one of my favorite days of the year. We love to attend the Tough Enough To Wear Pink night for breast cancer survivors! It’s a fun tradition we share with family and friends! It wouldn’t be Summer without attending this event! I cry every time they sing the national anthem with the fly-over. {HERE} This rodeo is ranked as one of the top five large outdoor rodeos in the PRCA.

A weekend in Deer Valley is beautiful in the Summer. It has stunning hikes, beautiful pools, great restaurants, cooler air, and great shopping, perfect for a weekend getaway!

A day at LAGOON {HERE} Utah’s amusement park nothing says Summer like an amusement park, and we haven’t been as a family in years, so this year it’s on the list!

Summer Food: If you haven’t figured it out by now… My family is foodies! Summer means fresh fruits, fresh vegetables, BBQs, Summer cocktails, late-night S’Mores by the fire, picnics on the boat, and many Summer get-togethers! My bucket list is to share more family recipes with you here on the blog. I’ve been sharing on my instastories, and it has been very popular and very requested. I’ll start with my fresh Bruschetta made with Summers beautiful ripe tomatoes NEXT week…So stay tuned!

Summer also means long days and a little more free time, allowing us to explore new restaurants, read books and enjoy all the beautiful fresh bouquets from our yards. I look forward to this time of the year and soak in all the beauty Summer brings!

Summer Sunsets are the best on the lake! Paddle Boarding and boating are two places you’ll find me every Summer!

8 tips for Packing light for a weekend Getaway

#1:

Find luggage that is easy to use, for instance, lightweight and stylish! Not only are these bags stylish, but they are also so functional. The tote is overflowing with compartments for a laptop, documents, clothing, cosmetics. I love everything can have a place with 3 zippered compartments! I like to travel wearing a jacket that can be versatile. This gives you more room in your bag!

Pack items that can mix and match, for instance, allowing you to pack less but create new looks! So what’s in the bag…Pj’s, toiletries, undergarments, laptop, tan wedges, white jeans, button-up top, shirt dress, jewelry….all going with the pieces I am wearing…As a result, I can create 6-7 looks with these pieces!

Use a divider toiletry bag {here} and purchase the travel-size bottles of everything you regularly use.

#5:

Because I love shoes and could pack a different pair for every outfit! Try to build your outfits out of pieces that work with just a couple of types of shoes. As a result, this keeps your bags lighter and really does help to keep things simple. (In the Winter, I try to wear my boots on the plane and pack the lighter pair.)

#6:

Pack a tide stick & dryer sheet, for instance, to keep your clothes smelling fresh and remove a spot.

#7:

I like to use little snack baggies to pack my necklaces in and keep tangle-free, for instance.

#8:

Pack a variety of jewelry, for instance, some statement earrings, hoops, along with several rings, necklaces & bracelet pieces that work together to give your outfits different looks. Because jewelry is small it takes up little room and yet makes a big impact on finishing an outfit.

Spring is in the air, and I am so happy! It’s been such a long Winter. Spring is the perfect time to add some beauty products to your routine since the weather is changing, your products need a minor adjustment—items you need for your Spring beauty routine that help and work with what you already use. You know I try out all the products before I share them with you. These are my tried and authentic beauty products, and I have wanted to give you them at various prices. Here are a couple of tips I’ve learned over the years. I share them often, but I love to give you a little reminder.

Try to do two different face masks a week. It does help your skin. If you’ve been following along on my Instagram, you know I’ve been obsessed with scarves lately and even shared a video on ways to wear {Here}. I love that it is a big trend for Spring and happy to share ways you can add this fun little trend into your wardrobe. It’s a trend that every age can wear and incorporate into your wardrobe with out breaking the bank. I don’t know about you but I used to wear scarves and ribbons in my hair back in high school and yes that little thing called a scrunchie! I love it’s back but with a little extra something added.. a scarf! It makes for adding to your hairdos easy. If you don’t want to wear in your hair you can just take the scarf off. I love getting multiple uses out of something. Don’t you?

These scarves also make for great gifts. I give to all my February & March friends for their birthday’s with a pair of statement earrings and a lipstick! They loved! You can even hang one of a bottle of wine like my cute girlfriend did as a gift!
