Seeing Dots…Polka dots Spring transition outfit & wardrobe Tip’s

Happy Monday Beautiful’s! Hope your weekend was great and your ready for a great new week! It’s a Beautiful day out Today in Utah and we’re starting to feel a little like Spring! YAY! If your like me your ready because we’ve had one heck of a Winter!

I wanted to share with you a Fun Spring transition outfit and Some Tips on Why I have these items in my wardrobe! I am using some pieces from Fall (my top and shoes) with some fun New Spring Items (this super skirt & denim jacket)

Polka dot skirt from Chic Style here, Denim Jacket: here, Necklace: similar here & here I Found my Necklace at a street market in NYC (One of My favorite things to collect while on Vacation is a piece of Jewelry made by a local artist) I wanted to give you a Faux and a real option!

The transition from Winter to Spring can be hard! 1 because we so badly want the temps to be warmer & We want to wear the Spring/ Summer clothes but the temps don’t always allow us! 2 We don’t always have the budget to go buy all NEW clothes! Here is a great way to solve Both! By Mixing things you already own with a new Spring item or two you can dress like its spring but have the choice to layer up when it’s cooler! Here is how and why I choose these items for My wardrobe!

Skirt:I love the classic and playful lines of the fluted pencil Skirt! Who doesn’t love Polka dot’s? This is a great Basic & versatile piece to add to your wardrobe that you can own for years! Steal at $39.99

Denim jacket:If you’ve been following me over the years on Facebook or My New personal instagram you know how much I swear by owning a good fitting Denim jacket! It’s a Basic staple item every lady should own! If you can afford I suggest owning a darker & regular weight and a lighter & lighter weight one! My Favorite is the Kut from the Kloth it fit’s well, is a little tapered not to boxy and a good moderate price point. This essential piece works with ALL most every outfit you could create! From a lace dress or Skirt to dress pants an jeans. It can tone down a outfit or edge one up! It’s a must have for Spring & Summer Chilly nights. I keep one in my car and I always travel with one. A denim Jacket travel’s well because it can be rolled up small or is a light enough weight to wear on a chilly plane. If you don’t have one make it a priority piece on your shopping list! You’ll thank me later:)

Faux Leather top: My top I have owned for a couple of years now and it never gets old! I suggest owning a cool Black Leather top! Long sleeve or short it really doesn’t matter you’ll get a lot of use out of it as you can wear Year round! Tip buy one that is thin and doesn’t have to much fabric so you can wear alone or layered. Leather adds a “Cool” factor or edge but can also be”Classic” depending on what you pair it with!

Open toed Booties: Mine are Vince Camuto I purchased at Nordstrom a couple of years ago! I really feel its worth it to buy good shoes. They last a longer and are truly more comfortable. This Booty style I personally feel is a classic more then trendy plus very versatile. Can be worn with jeans, skirts and dresses so in my eyes a good investment! I love Stripes it’s not a secret! Stripes in the Spring and Summer just feels like the beach to me! I am so happy it’s still on trend from tops, to pants make sure you find a piece that you love. Tip: Thin stripes are the most flattering!

Big Bag’s…This season is ALL about over sized bags. From designer to cute ones for the beach it’s ALL about the size! Tip: Use little bags inside your large bag to keep it organized! (we are becoming our Mothers…wink!)

Sandal… This season it’s the wedge and boy is it comfortable! I worked stand and running around all day with NO pain! A wedge is easy to walk in, I promise you won’t kill yourself! Tip: Buy the Steven Madden $90 On sale $69 verses the Marc fisher $170

Trends you Need to Know

Transition into Spring …With off the shoulder Gingham and this Seasons Must have shoe… The Wedge!

Spring is getting closer….Transitioning from Winter to Spring is pretty hard in Utah due to the elements! (Springing from Winter to Summer!) In the same week!

I love this outfit for a couple of reason’s! 1. you can add a boyfriend Cardigan over it on a cooler day..but It has the Fresh look of Spring! 2. I have a love affair with off the shoulder and am so happy its a big trend! (one similar here) 3. Gingham will always get me:) 4. This seasons wedge is so comfortable you would never know it was a high heel! 5.You can take all these pieces into Summer with ease…

Way to Wear Wednesday! Tulle at any age!

Tulle at any age! Yes pretty party girl tulle isn’t just for 5 year old’s! Yet… Every girl wants to feel five again in this perfect twirling, Happy and Playful fabric! It can be romantic, playful and brings you back to your childhood. It’s used for prom & wedding gowns! Today its a BIG trend in everyday wear! You really can wear it at any age depending on how you style it!

Here’s some tricks that I think help to wear this fun trend without trying to look 5 or…15 ox

Tulle is a romantic fabric that make for pretty skirt’s and dress not just for party season. You can WEAR it like I have shown above in a dress form. This dress is easy to wear with its Jersey striped tee attached;) The tulle isn’t to puffy which helps to not look so youthful. I paired it with a denim jacket to dress it down even more. added a wedge (old) and some fun Jewelry. (Statement earrings are a big Spring trend) These would be cute as mine are sold out!

Saturday Style (series 2) Spring Trends

Happy Saturday!

Good morning! Today I am sharing with you Series 2 of my 15 Spring Trends! If your just starting to read, Last week I introduced 15 top Spring trends and I am breaking them down every Saturday in the Month of March. Today I am featuring the Floral/Romantic prints, a touch of the Boyfriend jean and the Off the shoulder top!

Here we have My personal Favorite brand of jeans Kut from the Kloths Catherine boyfriend which has been a Big spring trend for a couple of years and I love it! Easy to wear, goes with every shoe from flip flops, sneakers,and high heel’s! Talking about shoe’s these cuties Are by Just Fab and hit the floral trend Perfect! (Similar ones here just fab )

The Off the shoulder Trend is one of my favorite trends and I am always happy when it makes its way back into the scene! The bow detail of the chambray cutie just makes this top! Booties by Steve Madden, Bag by Louis Vuitton, Jeans, Top at Chic Style, Glasses

Touching again on the floral/Romantic print… This sheer top is perfect for Spring with its pretty pattern, fun colors and romantic details it works great with skinny jeans! Friday Date Night Shoe’s

Here’s a peak at some of My Favorite’s!

Vintage wood heart is made by my cute friend over at @Olivewooddesigns on instagram and etsy! Shoes you can clearly see brand in each pair’s photo shopping similar or same under photo!

It’s no secret That I love shoe’s! Who doesn’t love a pretty high heel? Well … some of you love a high heel you just don’t wear them or buy them! Why not I ask? To tall? Can’t walk in them? Hurt your feet? Why do I say “Friday date night?” Like that’s the only time you can wear a high heel!

Well I have answer’s for ALL of the above…

To tall? I am 5’9 1/2 and my hubby is only 6ft so a lot of the time I am taller specially if I fall in love with too high of a heel! Tip buy ones that are a lower heel or a kitten heel.

Can’t walk in them? I can thank my Beauty pageants & modeling day’s for this, but Yes it takes practice and YES you need to walk confident and proud in heels so Please if you can’t…just practice with them on while at home doing chores and I promise you’ll get the hang of it! Tip: wedges are an easy high heel to walk in! Go with a lower heel. Also A open toe is harder to walk in so for you Not confident ones, wear close toed heels…(your toes won’t slide to the front and try to grab your shoe as your walking!)

Hurt your feet? Well that’s why I stated Friday night Date shoes! You can wear pretty heeled shoes that you don’t have to stand to long in and your not in them ALL day! Tip: You can purchase clear gel toe & heel pads and fab rub on stick that help keep your feet out of pain. My picks are here:

Friday Date night shoe’s?… I explained a little above, plus I really like a good excuse to buy pretty shoes that I don’t wear on a daily basis but really want to own them! I LOVE pretty Shoes! On a Serious note… My hubby and I always felt its important to have time together, making a once a week date night is important to us! I love to get dressed up & look good for him (and myself)even if it is only dinner and I am going to wear jeans….You can always wear a great pair of heels that makes the outfit! NOW go buy those shoes!!!

The perfect Transition Piece for Spring

Spring! It’s almost here….

I don’t know about you but It’s been a long and hard Winter! Too many grey and snowy day’s for my liking! I am excited for our day’s getting longer & warmer and the Sun starting to shine! It’s also means it’s time to change over the closet to Items that have pretty colors and lighter fabrics! In Utah it can still be chilly (heck we can get snow in June!) I found A perfect Transition sweater! Its a light weight sweater that can be worn as a tunic it is super soft, has the cutest lattice back in the prettiest shade of Dusty Pink! A perfect piece for transitioning from the multi layers of Winter to the minimal layers of Spring. You could add a light weight jacket if needed.

Have you ever wondered how to wear a Satin Bomber/ Baseball jacket without looking sporty or to young? Well I hope I am showing you a fun way you can wear one. Mine is a concert Band version showcasing one of my favorite Bands AC/DC! YES… I am a Rocker girl! Flash back to 80’s hair bands ( I am showing my age:) and proud of it!) Let’s talk age a minute…You can look cool, on trend at over 40 and NOT look like your trying to be a teenager! I get asked about this subject a lot and I am going to touch on this subject quite a bit on my blog… Dressing Trendy or with a couple of Trendy pieces does NOT mean you have to look like your daughter! It means you can look fashionable and put together (“with it”..as my mom say’s) Let’s face it, it does help you to look younger & not frumpy but dressing in Style doesn’t mean YOUTH! Stylish people are not just 20 year old’s they come in ever age and size, Just because your over 40 doesn’t mean you have to wear mom jeans and frumpy tops…. Now that I have touched a little on the age thing ( I promise A Post on Chic mom’s is coming) Let’s talk why this outfit works!

This outfit works because I am not wearing a baseball cap ( all though it would be cute!) To youthful for this outfit if your trying to pull off Chic…” Chic Rocker girl was my goal” Statement jewelry helps add to the Chic element , Simple jewelry would make it look basic…We want a WOW! The jeans although trendy, every age can wear patches their super fun and add whimsy plus their great fitting and have a ton of stretch. Stripped tee is a classic! All ages and body types can wear stripes its just on how you wear or layer as to not make them add width…Nobody wants to look wider! Here the jacket helps break up the stripes. Statement boots- I love shoes this isn’t news to anyone! I think a great pair of Statement shoes (like a statement necklace or earrings) can make the outfit! These studded boots don’t disappoint just finishes off the outfit.
