October Fall Favorites: Fashion & Home

Sharing with you some of the things that have been favorites for years and some added new ones to make this Fall the best yet. It’s no secret Fall is my favorite season, with Summer running a close second. October is my Birthday month, and I trust me. I have no problem celebrating it all month long. I’ve been sharing all my favorite things to do, eat, and wear as part of my celebrating in my Instagram stories and my feed. I’d love you to follow me over there; I am sure you’ll love what I am sharing. Now for some October Fall Favorites: Fashion and Home.

Each season I add some new pieces to my wardrobe, as I am sure you do too. I like to add pieces that work well with items I already own and pieces that I happened to be purchasing, which is a great little wardrobe capsule. The pieces I purchased this year here on the rack happened to all work together perfectly for mixing and matching. You could literally pack all these pieces for a trip and be set for any activity. These pieces I will be styling all Fall season and into Winter for you, so please stay tuned for styling inspiration.

This year I decorated my back deck. See all the photo’s on my Instagram HERE. We sit on our back deck a lot for Coffee in the Am to cocktails in the evening. So I decided, Why not Decorate for my Favorite time of the year back there as well. Let me tell you; it has been one of my October Fall Favorites! Shop the photo HERE

Fall Decorating to dress up the front porch entryway. I can’t pass up a pumpkin or mums this time of the year. Seriously kept adding until I can add no more…then I move to a new place I can add. I love grabbing the large potted mums at Costco as they’re a steal at $14, and if Costco has pumpkins, it’s great to grab those there as well, normally flat $5 same with Target $5 for any size med or large. For the specialty White, Cinderella, I grab at the Pumpkin patch, well, because I need to go to the pumpkin patch every year! It’s one of my October favorite things for sure.

Fall Favorite Foods:

The taste of the season is definitely all things pumpkin. Pumpkin spice lattes, pumpkin scones, pumpkin chocolate chip cookies (my easy chocolate chip Pumpkin cookie recipe link below), Of course, Apple pie and yummy soups and bread always hit the spot on chilly cold Fall day’s. I know Fashion for 2020 this far has been a lot of loungewear and cozy at home pieces. I don’t see that really changing, but I do see us moving more towards street style and adding those fun fashion pieces that are easy to wear and move in while adding in some style. You can be comfortable wearing and looking suitable for a zoom session. Let’s face it…it is fun to get dressed even if our social life is a little different.

Saying Goodbye to Summer…Fashion I am packing away!

Do you have those Summer pieces you wore over and over and are sad when it comes time to pack them away? These are pieces that don’t transition into Fall. Summer short, Summer Printed tops and dresses, Sandals you loved, and those perfect Straw hats and Fun Summer Bags. I sure do. These pieces I wore to death all summer long and genuinely hated having to pack them away, Partly because it means the end of summer and partly because these pieces brought me joy all summer long.

The linen shorts HERE from Old navy I purchase in the stripe and four solid colors. So affordable, comfortable, and easy to style. I wore with a tank or graphic tee and if not to hot-finished off with a denim jacket. Shop the whole look HERE. Picking up summer pieces on SALE for next year is always a great idea and like Christmas when you unpack your summer clothing!

My favorite sandal this year by far! I purchased my tan shoes from my girlfriends little boutique Rowan in California. Best purchase ever, I could have worn every day they worked with every outfit I put together. Forcing myself to grab other sandals (lord knows I own plenty!) Those fun straw bags and favorite espadrilles we all love and collect scream all things summer! I am a sucker for cute bags and shoes. They get me every season, but especially in the summer. These are very hard for me to say goodbye. The struggle is so real 🙂 but let’s face it transitioning these cuties into Fall is pushing it. It’s time to say goodbye for now and see you in a year. Bring out the booties and fantastic leather bags, and this Fall, you might even be seeing some fringe. Shop these shoes here.

I like to store all my summer bags in the totes below; Clear bins are perfect so you can see them. I store all my Summer sandals in the shoe storage, also shown below.

I loved the Blazer and Bermuda shorts trend this year, Yes Blazer’s transition great into every season, but as I stated above, shorts are hard, especially in Utah. All though you can wear with a sweater and sweatshirt on chillier evenings or a crisp day, those days are far too little living here in Utah or Mountain communities. Packing these guys away, Tip, I like to roll all my shorts and store in bins showed below. Shop this look HERE

Floral Prints and what to do?

Saying Goodbye to Summer…Fashion I am packing away! My love of floral prints always has me sad to see them go. Fall color florals transition into Fall, so you can keep those out for a little longer, but as I stated above, We should pack away summer florals. Note my favorite sandals here again:)

What do you do with those seasonal dresses?

Dresses can be so versatile and can be great wardrobe builders, but unfortunately, some dresses do scream their season, like above, it truly is a Summer/Spring dress. Find it HERE. Just like a sweater dress is a Fall/Winter dress. If you purchase a ton of this season’s tee shirt dress, You can keep those out and transition those into your Fall wardrobe by adding layers and wearing them with booties or tennis shoes. Suppose you have darker colored or dark or fall printed dresses that transition perfectly as well. Shorts, I love every length short, but the Bermuda shorts are one of this seasons biggest trends. In every shade, style, and color, you can’t go wrong with a Bermuda short. They look great paired with a blazer too. Easy to wear and even easier to style. Anything goes with a cute pair of Bermudas. Here are some of my favorites.

Sandals are making my top 10 Summer favorite’s. I can’t live without, and I found some adorable ones I have been wearing to death. My picks are sandals you’ll wear all Summer long and truly are some classics you’ll be able to wear for several Summer seasons.

Summer dresses are one of my top Summer favorites. So comfortable to wear, easy to style, and keeps you looking Chic without a lot of effort. Here are some of my favorites and so affordable.

Making the 10 Summer Favorites you can’t live without! Summer Salads and one of my favorites would-be my Greek salad, So refreshing and light, I could eat it every day. This salad is so easy to make and you’ll love how tasty it is. You can eat it on a bed of romaine lettuce and a side of grilled chicken or just plain.

Greek Salad:

4 on the vine tomatoes cup up

1 English Cucumber cut up

1 cup Kalamata Olives

1 cup red onion chopped up

Italian dressing of your choice

Feta cheese (if doing whole30 leave off) use the amount you like

Add all items together and mix with dressing (I leave the cheese out and top my salad when I serve) As this makes enough for 4 servings. I like to make a batch and have it for a couple of lunches. Serve as is or on a bed of Lettuce of your choice, also great with grilled chicken.

Homedecor: Adding a pop of Boho Summer designer pieces to your home. Here I used some high-end designer pieces to decorate for Summer and shared with you the DUPES you could purchase to get the same look at a fraction of the cost. SHOP HERE

Sangria Recipe: I shared this Sangria on my stories, and My DMS were flooded for the recipe. I did say how to make it in the stories and saved to cocktail highlights, but I know a lot of you like a written copy. White Sangria recipe: is a Moscato wine, one bottle of your choice 1/4 jar lemon-lime soda (sprite) 1/4 jar lime La Croix and cup chopped pineapple, cup Strawberries, 1/2 cup blueberries. Add all to a glass pitcher or serving jar… The measurements were based on the jar 1/2 the pitcher was the wine, then 1/4 soda 1/4 sparkling water ( hope that makes sense) I did the same for the Red Sangri, a bottle of sweet red wine, 1/4 soda, 1/4 Sparking water and for the fruit I used one apple chopped, 1 cup of grapes cut up and 1 cup blackberries mixed. The best flavor is to make a day ahead. I hope you guys enjoy it because this #sangriawine is a winner in my book.

Charcuterie Board The Instastory that gave me more DMS then I could handle:) My festive Charcuterie Board that has something for everyone and can feed a large gathering. It’s effortless to put together, and many of you asked for a shopping list. Here is what I used this time:

Date-Night. June took us on a much-needed date night out at The Gateway in Salt Lake. We had dinner at Midici’s Neapolitan pizza company than A drive-in Theater experience. The outside dining, beautiful wall art murals, interactive parks, water features, window displays are so pretty and inviting. They have some unique shops and entertainment as well.

Ways to Entertain and Dress Festive for 4th of July

Can you believe the 4th of July is a little over a week away! Seriously Summer just flies by, and I love to soak up every minute of it. This year the 4th is going to look a little different for all of us. Many of the activities we all love and enjoy May be canceled, For instance, parades, festivals, firework displays, and breakfast in the parks. however, this doesn’t mean we can’t celebrate American and this great Country in a little different way. (Did you know Utah is the number 1 most patriotic state?) Family BBQs, Backyard pool parties, or a lake day, little sidewalk fireworks, or even a small neighborhood firework display (if allowed in your city). Family and friends are what makes a Holiday special, So put on that American the great playlist, Plan the grocery shopping list and pull out all the stops on your Home decorating.

Our front porch welcomes & celebrates America, and I hope it gets you excited for what’s beyond the front door. I wanted to share with you a red, white, and blue nautical Bar cart perfect for serving drinks, a festive snack table to keep guests happy and tummies full before dinner, and our Stars and stripe dining table perfect for entertaining a small crowd. I hope they will inspire you to entertain this 4th of July and maybe make some new traditions.

Tip for creating an eclectic and festive tablescape for entertaining is to gather up all the items you have in the colors theme you are using, here, of course, is red, white, and blue. Don’t worry about the patterns. A mix is part of the fun. Place all our items in your workstation, take inventory and see what your missing (plates or glasses, etc.) This act will allow for easier shopping. Another tip would be to collect items that can quickly work for other occasions (think solid colors, patterns not necessarily the Holiday pattern.)

Try to think of other Holidays or events you could use items to decorate with. Say the Red polka dot bowl. The item could be used for Christmas, Valentine’s day, 4th of July, and even a Birthday. Layering is also another tip, layering tablecloths, placemats, ribbon, chargers, etc. Layering adds texture, for instance, if I removed the mesh ribbon from the center of the table below, The centerpiece of the table would look flat and not as interesting. Layering creates texture. Play with the items you’ve collected and remember to group in odd numbers, use dishes as risers to give your display height dimensions, and use some unexpected things. Using denim pockets from old jeans for the silverware holders is unexpected and useful.

My inspiration was all things red, white, and blue, days of Summer from the past. Coke and cherries remind me of hot summer days and add a little nostalgia to the tablescape. I created easy shopping for you below. Some of the items I have used are vintage and some I have been collecting for years. Now that we have the entertaining covered, let’s talk dressing festively. You could use the same concept I used for entertaining/ creating a tablescape, Collect all the Red white and blue clothing items and accessories, and create your outfits from the pieces you collected from your closet. You’d be surprised how many festive outfits you could put together from what you already own. Below you will find I created five 4th of July outfits from pieces I have owned for years. Pair them with a Gingham top below and festive jewelry for that perfect Summer night outfit/BBQ. I’ve been collecting items since owning my Home decor store “Pages of tyme” back in California starting almost 24 years ago. Some of these pillows are a treasure from those days. I created this space to have a little of the inside brought out💛💛I adore black and white stripes and I think it pops with a touch of yellow and green! Tips for making your outdoor space inviting: throw pillows, a blanket for chilly nights, pots of flowers and plants, trays for serving and keeping things tidy. I love rugs to add color and define spaces, candles and lanterns for lighting (and keeping bugs away) I love some books or magazines to entice you to stay awhile 💛💛💛
Another big tip is if you furniture is mix & match spray paint it all 1 color to give it a cohesive look. It instantly makes it look more planned 😉

Last week I introduced you to Baggallini luggage & bag company. Promising you some easy packing tips and 6-7 outfit looks with just a few pieces of clothing. I am off for a weekend meeting for two days with my @baggallini rolling tote and backpack to help make traveling easy and light. Here are 8 tips I hope you find useful.

I had a quick meeting✈️ , and I stated I’d share my packing tips for creating easy outfits out of just a few pieces to make packing light! I don’t know about you, but I love the ease of 1 carry-on bag! Wanting to look put together and chic without the hassle of multiple luggage. 8 tips for Packing light for a weekend Getaway

#1:

Find luggage that is easy to use, for instance, lightweight and stylish! Not only are these bags stylish, but they are also so functional. The tote is overflowing with compartments for a laptop, documents, clothing, cosmetics. I love everything can have a place with 3 zippered compartments! I love the black-on-black Cheetah print, and the piece is so lightweight! 🧳 You know I love some animal print.

I like to travel wearing a jacket that can be versatile. This gives you more room in your bag!

#3:

Pack items that can mix and match, for instance, allowing you to pack less but create new looks! So what’s in the bag…Pj’s, toiletries, undergarments, laptop, tan wedges, white jeans, button-up top, shirt dress, jewelry….all going with the pieces I am wearing…As a result, I can create 6-7 looks with these pieces!

#4:

Use a divider toiletry bag {here} and purchase the travel-size bottles of everything you regularly use.

#5:

Because I love shoes and could pack a different pair for every outfit! Try to build your outfits out of pieces that work with just a couple of types of shoes. As a result, this keeps your bags lighter and really does help to keep things simple. (In the Winter, I try to wear my boots on the plane and pack the lighter pair.)

#6:

Pack a tide stick & dryer sheet, for instance, to keep your clothes smelling fresh and remove a spot.

#7:

I like to use little snack baggies to pack my necklaces in and keep tangle-free, for instance.

#8:

Pack a variety of jewelry, for instance, some statement earrings, hoops, along with several rings, necklaces & bracelet pieces that work together to give your outfits different looks. Because jewelry is small it takes up little room and yet makes a big impact on finishing an outfit.
