What’s Mob Wife Fashion: Meet This Year Fashion Aesthetic

Hello, Pretty Ladies, and Happy Wednesday.

I am excited to bring this new Fashion Aesthetic to your attention for 2024. Get your Fur Coats out— Mob Wife aesthetic is in What’s a “MOB Wife,” You ask?

This fun trend brings back Glamour and femininity to fashion. Quiet luxury is out, and the clean girl aesthetic is no more. We are moving on to mob wife. This means we’ll see bolder colors, animal prints, metallic, and lots of furs (which can be faux). What’s an MOB wife without all her jewels? Jewelry is bolder; make-up is stronger. Nothing is quiet about this look; if you are ready for a louder, brighter, and stronger look, this one is fun to play with.

The why behind this look

A drastic change in fashion generally happens when trends get overly saturated. The pendulum swings to the completely opposite side. This means we will see color, bold animal prints, bolder jewelry, More faux leather, and metallics coming in even stronger in 2024.

Happy Monday, and I hope your week is off to a great start. Today, I wanted to bring to you Things you can still do in fashion and look current at any age without having to change your whole wardrobe just by making some little tweaks and not feeling like you have to jump on board with what you are seeing currently on trend or suggested on how you clean out your wardrobe.

I have started a series called “What I won’t be doing in 2023” In which I share baby steps in how you can accomplish a wardrobe that will have you looking chic and feeling good at any age without breaking the bank and having to start from scratch as well as helping you find your style while building a classic wardrobe that will fit your body type.

Each week I will be sharing “What I won’t be doing” along with the “WHY” and “TIPS” that you can use as suggestions to help you make decisions in your wardrobe, which I think can be helpful for you to follow, clean out and purchase smarter.

I won’t be Getting rid of All my low-rise jeans/pants
Jumping on Every 2024 Trend
Feeling the need to Clear out everything in my closet.

✨Won’t be getting rid of all my low-rise Jeans/Pants!

Here’s why:

Dress for your body type Not for what’s trending… Now, this doesn’t mean you can’t BE TRENDY…

What this means is to wear styles that are flattering on your shape and that you feel good in. So, if low-rise jeans/pants work on your shape great wear them. Keeping them current could mean picking a low rise in a straight leg or a flare, and maybe not a skinny.

Now if you love and look good in a skinny jean. Maybe try it in a Trending mid or high-rise style and see if that works on your body type.

It’s about balancing what looks good on you and what’s on trend.

✨Jumping On Every Trend in 2024✔️

Here’s why:

This has a lot to do with the above… It’s important to dress for your body type and feel good in what you wear.

Another way to Stay current with your wardrobe & wear what looks good on you is to pick a trending color or wear one trendy piece you do feel & look good in.

Tip: You may not like every trend, and that’s ok. it’s a suggestion on what’s current but not a must!

TIP: Trends are a great place to SAVE money when building your wardrobe… Don’t Spend a lot of money on trending pieces… Save that for the classic quality wardrobe builders.

Tip: Pick up Trending pieces at places like Nordstrom Rack, Target, Walmart, Amazon, TjMax,

Forever 21, H&M, or wait for a SALE.

By all means, if you LOVE a trend and you think you’ll wear that piece to death. Buy it🖤✔️ If you don’t pass on it✔️

✨Feeling the Need to Clear out everything in my Closet✔️

Here’s why:

When you build a great classic wardrobe full of good staple pieces, they don’t go out of style.

That’s why they’re called classics, you can transition them from season to season year after year. Read my Building a Classic Wardrobe post HERE.

I have pieces in my wardrobe I still wear that are 20 years old… Good quality pieces last, You can wear them year after year and I highly recommend you splurge on a few of them. This also means you don’t have to purchase them or clear them out as often

You may have noticed I have been sharing small tips on what you may want to keep and what you may want to clear out. I have a blog post coming next week on tips to help you clean out your closet. ( I might have to make this a series as well.)

Details on the outfit above:

This outfit looks and feels current. Yet the jeans are old (22-25 years old) The rise is lower, yet it’s a straight leg. Lower rise isn’t trending yet straight leg is, so they still feel current. I like the way my body looks in a lower rise, I am short-waisted so a lower rise helps create a waist on my body structure. The Straight leg keeps the jeans from feeling “dated” whereas if this low rise was a skinny jeans it would feel like a dated pair of jeans. Do you now see what makes a difference?

Now, If you have skinny jeans you like and feel good in, what will make them look like current jeans is to have a midrise or highrise to them. Low-rise jeans aren’t “trending” and “skinny Jeans aren’t trending so those would look dated. Unless you wore a tunic or oversized sweater with tall boots. Like I did in the photo below.

TIP: This outfit was put together with a mix of old and New (shopped my closet) You can easily copy this look…Shop your closet to create a great outfit. Here I have a mix of lace, metallics, and leopard print, it all works because of the solid black duster pulling it all together and grounding it if you will.

This outfit is something you can easily recreate without having to go shopping. Simply take the outfit formula and find like items, the items do not have to be exact just close. Take for instance maybe the same item but a different color or maybe you have something in the same color but not the same style. play with what you have to recreate a similar outfit. This is a great way to get the most out of your wardrobe. ( I will be doing a blog series on shopping your closet) as well as one on building a wardrobe.

Today, I am sharing… 3 things I’mI’mt doing to “BE”CURRENT” a” a midlifer….PART 1

#1. I’m not throwing away ALL my skinny jeans!!!

⚠️You’ve seen midlife stylists throw them in the trash!!!! WHAT! ( yes, trends come and go, and some styles of jeans are more on trend in specific years… But…)

Here’s WHY: I won’t be throwing all of mine away or telling clients, too…

– Skinny jeans are genuinely the only jeans that work well with tall boots (which will be showing up big in 2024)

– Every figure is different and has different styles that flatter you.

-YOU know what you like and what YOU feel good in.

-You can Make Skinny Jeans “CURRENT” just by how you style them! (More on that later)

—They look great with Tunics and oversized sweaters. This gives the outfit balance

-They work on my body. My legs are one of my assets, and I try to teach my followers and clients to wear what works on your body! Accentuate your best parts.

#2. Wearing Things that don’t work on my (you’re) body!

Here’s Why everyone’s figure is different; we don’t have to wear EVERY trend to be “CURRENT” (more later)

-Dressing for your body type will not only help you to feel and look better, but it will also show OFF the little trends you decide to wear better! (More on picking Trends that work on your body type later)

– Being “CURRENT” can be as easy as picking a trending fabric and choosing it in a style that works for you—choosing a trending color and adding that to your accessories. It truly is in the little details, not your whole wardrobe.

#3. Not Caring what people think!

Here’s Why Fashion is an expression of yourself, NOT your AGE!

Tips to help you create a Holiday Capsule

TIP #1: You can easily create your own Holiday Capsule wardrobe, by going through your closet and seeing what could work to be festive… and start your rack. Then you can easily create looks with what you’ve put together.

Fabrics of the season satins, velvets, sequins, faux fur, tartan plaids, Pearl detail, and faux leather.

Colors of the season Shades of Red, green, Ivory, metallic, and black. Even Navy’s & Pinks💕

Don’t forget to Pull out your festive jewelry, bags, and shoes.

These tips also make it easier to know what you might need to shop for. (A great pair of trousers or a festive sweater.) You get my drift.

Tip #2 make sure everything you pulled fits✔️ nothing worse than thinking you have an outfit planned and then something doesn’t fit correctly.

We’re officially a little over a week away from Thanksgiving and I feel so behind already. I am one of those people who likes to have everything done for Christmas by Thanksgiving. This helps me to be able to take moments to enjoy the season without all the stressful to-do’s floating around in my head.

Cooking, baking, and entertaining take up enough time, without also having to worry about decorating, shopping, wrapping, etc, (you know the Mom list!) I highly recommend making Thanksgiving your deadline as it does help you enjoy the Holidays more.

–Pumpkin pie pan and serving dish! I love sitting on my stove and storing a pie! Perfect for the season🎃🍂 24.99 They have the Pumpkin oven-safe casserole pan too and have enjoyed it sitting on my stovetop all season long.

–Steve Madden cap-toe ballet flats with a little bow. 3 fall trends in one. Cap toe, ballet flat, and bows true to size and comfortable! Wear with straight leg, cropped pants joggers, and cargos! Cute with skirts and dresses too!

–Gold bead hoops, by Lisi Lurch, are lightweight and won’t tarnish perfect for daily wear. Makes a great gift at $44 and something that’s been on my Bestsellers list week after week.

Hostess Gift Ideas

Not hosting Thanksgiving this year and headed to a friend or family member? Here are a couple of my favorite hostess gifts to give.

-Meyers counters spray, dish soap, and hand soap with a couple of holiday dish towels (I give the winter pine IOWA scent and these dish towels) since they more than likely be decorating for the Holidays right after.

–Beautiful Paper plates and napkins in a pretty festive vibe without stating a holiday theme. (The host could use that day for pie/desserts, but if she already had Thanksgiving paper goods) she could easily use for Christmas or New Year’s entertainment. I like these HERE and HERE

If your host serves alcohol, a nice bottle or two for wine or bubbly is nice. I also like to accompany a bottle with a Bottle chiller or champagne bucket or one of my favorite things a champagne saver/topper I love a good Prosecco but if I only want a glass, this keeps it bubbly for days.

Hello Pretty Ladies,

Where did October go? I think that was the fastest month ever. November is another crazy month that flies by and I can’t believe we are now 7 weeks away from Christmas. I am in full Christmas mode, not that I want to skip Thanksgiving, but because I love to enjoy the month of December. So, I take November to do all my Holiday prep. This way I can enjoy the season and spend time with family and friends without all the pressure that we moms have.

I have found over the years prepping and preparing has really helped me enjoy all the things I love about the Holiday season. We can enjoy a decorated home, entertain guests with ease, have PJs & Christmas movie days in front of the fire, bake Christmas treats, Go to Holiday parties, Head to the Mall to just window shop & take in the hustle and bustle of the Holiday, and have a Holiday date night, see a Christmas program, and drive around to see Christmas lights without the ” To Do List” haunting my brain.

I love to cook for our friends and family and will be hosting Thanksgiving like most years, and my goal every year is to be ready for Christmas by Thanksgiving. I am off to a great start. I’ll be sharing my progress here and on Instagram stories.
