What is Galentine’s Day

Galentine’s Day is an unofficial holiday celebrated on February 13th. The holiday was made popular by the TV series Parks and Recreation and celebrated female friendships and relationships, especially if you don’t have a significant other. Galentine’s Day involves women honoring the important ladies in their lives through gift exchanges, dinners, gatherings, spa days, and more. It’s a great time to show appreciation for the strong bonds between women!

New Year’s Target Home Refresh

Christmas has been taken down, and the house feels a little empty. I love doing a little home refresh in January. How about you? Adding just a few pieces to your home decor can give a minor update. Whether you’re a big fall decorator or just want to add a little bit of fall decor to warm up your space.

A dough bowl is a great way to add decor for every season, on your kitchen island, dining room table, coffee table, or even entry table.

I love fall and I love to decorate. One of my favorite items to style is a dough bowl. Here are a few tips that can help you create a Fall display with ease.

Styling A Dough Bowl For Fall.

Fall decorating is can be so fun and actually really easy with these easy tips.

Tip 1

Keep it simple, using a Dough Bowl Makes a great anchor for your collections for any season. They come in several sizes to fit in many places.

A dough bowl is a great way to add decor for every season, on your kitchen island, dining room table, Coffee table, or even entry table.

Makes a great anchor, for seasonal items. Easy to change them according to the time of year.

Tip 2

Work in odd numbers, an interior design trick is to work in odd numbers, 3,5,7, etc. This adds balance and helps create clusters that work to keep the eye wandering along with interest.

Tip 3

Use items you love, use a variety of items in different textures and materials. Use different sizes and heights. This not only adds interest but keeps your display from being flat.

7 Ways To Get Your Home Sell-Ready

Hello Pretty Ladies, I have shared with you that we are getting ready to list our home and researching ways to make the processes easier and faster. Here are “7 Ways To Get Your Home Sell-Ready” Put on your seatbelts – we are going on a crazy ride! Selling your home right now is a great idea financially, but it can also be very overwhelming to do. You might be wondering, “where do I even start?” I’m here to help! Here are a few ways to get your home sell-ready:

Fix any issues

First up: fix any issues before you consider listing them. You could tackle this two ways: only fix the issues that are very apparent (like holes in the walls) so that prospective buyers are more attracted to the home and make a better offer. Or fix as many issues (seen and unseen) that you know of to have a better inspection report come back. I prefer only to tackle sight seen issues because once you get the inspection report back, they will make repair requests…and even if you fix a lot beforehand, you WILL have things that pop up on your inspection, so you might as well fix only what you have to unless there is an actual serious issue that could deter buyers.

Meet with your agent and figure out a price

Once you prepare your home, your next step is to meet up with your agent (if you are using one!) to figure out a price. Right now, prices are wild, and it can be tough to know what price you should list your home at, so I recommend trusting a real estate agent that knows what they are doing. Of course, you want the most bang for your buck, and pricing it yourself could land you a bad deal. However, at the end of the day, any deal that YOU think works for you is a good deal.

Get everything deep cleaned.

Right before your listing goes on the market, you will want to declutter, de-personalize, and get your home deep cleaned so that it shines and looks its best! Of course, if you don’t have the time for this or want it in tip-top shape, you could always hire this out. Professional cleaners have the potential to do WONDERS when it comes to making your home look (and smell) great! This is definitely a must before letting people into your home when they are making a potentially life-changing offer.

Post your home on Facebook

When everything is live, go ahead and post your listing on Facebook. You could even post before your home goes live to gain traction and potentially get an off-market deal. However, doing this runs the risk of you getting less money overall because when it is on the market right now, you will (without fail!) have a bidding war, which will up the total price you get for the sale of your home. Nevertheless, posting on Facebook is always a great thing to quickly get people in the door!

Negotiate once you have a potential buyer

Once you have found a buyer, it’s time for negotiations! Everything can be negotiated, so don’t leave anything on the table. At the end of the day, it’s a seller’s market, and you have the option to get back-up offers, just in case something falls through. During negotiations, be kind, but make sure you are not bending to make an unreasonable request. This is the hardest part. You’ve got this!

Find a new home

Once you get through the hardest part, it’s not time for the fun! Finding a home of your own! Make your list of what you need and what you want, then set up an official home search. To make a competitive offer in this market, talk with your agent. With a lot of homes, they are moving quickly, and they are only willing to accept the best offer with a clean contract. Keep that in mind when house hunting, but make sure you don’t settle for something less than great!

Move!

Last but not least, the final step in this entire process is moving! This can be overwhelming and stressful, and nobody LOVES to do it themselves. To take care of that, hire it out instead. There are great companies out there that can help you with the moving process – like Movin’. They are residential movers and office movers in Salt Lake City, and they go above and beyond to ensure that all of their clients are 100% satisfied. After all, word-of-mouth reviews are their best reference! They say, “Moving is never fun. From the packing to the heavy lifting, it’s a big project that’s tough to handle on your own. What I’ve Purchased Lately

Today, I am sharing a few items, “What I’ve purchased lately” Pieces for our home, a couple of Items Cozy items to wear perfect for Spring weather, and a cute Jumpsuit for that upcoming warm-weather vacation.

I love a little refresh for Spring for our home and my wardrobe. In Utah, it’s still cold until the end of April, and you do need layers, sometimes just light layers. So I added in a couple of warm and cozy pieces in my favorite neutral shades. I found a cute jumpsuit for Spring break and something I’ll wear all Summer long. I love getting a new pair of house slippers for the season, and I found these cute slippers in white for $12.00. Our home needed a couple of little pieces,s and Spring is the perfect time for a little freshen up.

Office Lamp= As you know, I moved my home office upstairs, and I have been adding finishing touches to the space. I found this tremendous chic and straightforward lamp that adds the light I need to my desk and the communication of gold and marble base for that stylish feminine touch I am looking for.
The Perfect Mirror= Something on my Wish list is this Large Anthropology mirror I will get for our new home. Meanwhile, I purchased the small one for my office, and I adore it! Perfect for checking your makeup or those hats I love.
Candle– Capri Blue Volcano candle is one of my all-time favorite scents. It smells excellent any time of the year. I usually burn them in the Spring and Summer as I like fall and winter scents for those seasons. You will not be disappointed in this long-burning candle.
Water bottle=The water bottle that keeps you on track hourly. If you had a goal to drink more water this year? This bottle is for you! It fits in your car’s drink holder, is easy to hold, and keeps track of your water hourly. I have loved this water bottle compared to the one I purchased a couple of years ago.
Turtleneck tunic= A Super soft and lightweight Tunic in Cream and the perfect weight for Spring in Utah. I received one from Avara in Blush in January and loved it so much I purchased it in Cream.
Jumpsuit= This strapless jumpsuit is flattering and cute for Spring and Summer. I love the crisp white, cropped wide leg and flattering strapless top—a great wide belt to accentuate the waist.
Slippers= Who doesn’t want new slippers for each season, especially when you can get these cuties for under $12. I purchased it in white.
Cozy Cardigan=, The perfect shade of oatmeal, goes with almost everything and is a much-needed layering piece for Spring. I have worn over my pj’s at home and on travels, thrown on over everyday outfits, and it’s cute over tee shirt dresses and a shirt dress. You’ll love this cozy soft layering piece.
Laundry basket= I finally found a laundry basket that looks beautiful sitting out and has the function I need. You’ll love it too.

I wanted to share our How to Create an easy Thanksgiving Dining Tablescape setting with you. Because it’s not the traditional Fall feel with leaves and pumpkins, I went with a winter white, silver, and gold theme. And it feels elegant and warm. To give it a Thanksgiving feel, I picked up this fun silver pheasant from Target and added antlers and wooden details.

TIP: for adding layers to your Thanksgiving Dining Tablescape, find items around your home that work in your color/theme. Please pay attention to heights; find items from low to high, but not too high that you can’t see around it. I love pieces that are general and don’t scream a certain holiday so that you can use them more often. It helps for easy collecting because of items like glass, mercury glass, and solid colors like gold, silver, white, and red (red works for Christmas, Valentine’s day, and Summer). Pieces that give your table a glow like candles, votives, and candlesticks are great pieces to collect.

How to Create an easy Thanksgiving Dining Tablescape: Adding Layers

TIP: I love to share is to layer your tablecloth; this works great if you don’t have the perfect size for your Thanksgiving Dining Tablescape. Here I used a large plain white tablecloth that fits the table and to add a pop of design. I used the gold stripe meant for a smaller table, but you wouldn’t notice it doesn’t fit the table because of the layering. I also like to layer different tablecloths of different sizes if you don’t have one that fits! Just remember they need to be in the same color family for it to work.

Our table is for 8, yet I always buy everything in sets of 12. I do this in case anything breaks, or if I have extra people, we can make a kid table for 4 at our kitchen island. It is also because I am a little bit of a collector….(my boys are going to hate me when I die!)

I love collecting things to entertain and make life beautiful; I can throw any party at a moment’s notice because of the pieces I’ve collected over the years! #5 The straight leg jean… Don’t worry; the Skinny jean isn’t gone! It’s just taking a back seat to the Straight leg jean. Here I am wearing the Straight-leg jean in a mid-rise and a frayed cropped hem. I prefer the mid-rise to the high rise, as it hit me better on my body as I don’t have a waist and my trouble area is my middle. In high-rise denim, you’ll need to go up a full size, and it really does shorten my already shorter torso. And let’s Talk REAL…I don’t love what a high rise does to my already flat butt:(!

All my height comes in my legs. I am 5’9 1/2 for reference and wear a size 6 to 8, depending on the jean. In this case, it’s the brand Level 99 denim, and these are a size 28 (let’s face it, my size also depends on my fluctuating weight of 10-15 pounds!) THANKS, Midlife, and menopause!

A couple of reasons it’s great to own a straight leg. They look great with the on-trend clog sandals. As skinny jeans could give you that elf effect 🙂 ( Insert Giggle), They really flatter the leg and add a longer leg appearance. And they look great with tops tucked in to show off your waist! Can I say, “Pull out your BELTS!”

These are some of my go-to jeans for styling clients and what I purchase. Brands like Kut from the Kloth, Not Your Daughters Jeans, Madewell, and Level 99. (some say HIGH rise but trust me, I tried on or own, and they are ALL mid-rise on me)

Holiday Outfit Ideas for 2020

Holiday Outfit Idea’s for 2020, well, really for any Holiday year! So whether you’re playing it casual, Holiday shopping, staying in Pj’s or getting festive for a small Holiday party. I created Holiday outfit inspirations. Therefore, you should be able to shop your closet or add some new pieces to your Holiday wardrobe collection.

Holiday wardrobe

I say Holiday wardrobe collection, well, because it’s good to have a collection of fun Holiday pieces that you can add to every year and mix and match with current pieces to create new looks. And it should be looked at like building a wardrobe because building a Holiday wardrobe gives you a great collection to create outfits with ease. I have had some of the pieces for years, and I love pulling them all out year after year and seeing how I can wear it this year. Because looking festive for the whole season is not only fun but creates more cheer!

I hope this post really inspires you to dig in your closet and see if you have “like items” to help you create a fun Holiday outfit. As I said, a lot of my pieces are older and not shoppable, but I will create a shop this post for the items you can still purchase if you want to add a couple of pieces into your Holiday outfit collection.

I was wearing a green dress from Eliza J’s Holiday collection last year in the photos above. (photo this year) Shop this season’s dresses BELOW. You really could use any Green or red dress, layer with an oversize cardigan or boyfriend cardigan (black and white buffalo check is a shirt/jacket), tall boots, and a beanie to create this look. Perfect for Holiday lunch with the girlfriends, Helping out for Holiday school parties, or switch the boots for heels and add festive jewelry for a festive party look.

Holiday Sparkle

Here are a couple of dressed-up sparkly outfits, just if you are attending something a little more festive. I know this year’s Holiday party situation might look a little different. Therefore, it doesn’t mean you can’t get dolled up. I am one that is always a game for being overdressed! (hehe) I also am game for hosting a small Holiday party; let’s face it, we all need cheer! Holiday Pj’s and Loungewear

This sure has been the year of loungewear and pj’s! Christmas pj’s have always been a family tradition since I was a child, and I continued the tradition with my family. We don’t necessarily have matching pj’s, just festive. Above I showed a couple of ways you could take your pj’s and loungewear to the next Holiday level. By adding fun winter and holiday accessories, it’s not just pj’s. It’s a PJ outfit! By outfit, I do not mean appropriate to wear shopping! (hehe)

Casual Holiday

More of you have stated you take the casual approach to Holiday outfit looks. Above I created several Holiday flat lays to inspire you. As I stated above, I like to dress all month festively, from running errands to attending a girl’s lunch, helping out at school, or shopping. You’ll catch me in one of these looks.

Really easy to create and even easier to wear. Most of these looks are created with a base of jeans and a sweatshirt, then layered with seasonal accessories to give them the festive vibe. Note the jewelry, shoes and winter beanies, gloves, and scarves. As a result, give that Holiday winter vibe.

See why collecting is a must? A couple of tips for a good collection. For instance, look for sale items (even after the holiday, when everything is on sale!) Perfect time to grab items to stash away in your Holiday box. Yes! I said Box. Like our Holiday decor, create a Holiday clothing and accessory box! You only use those pieces for the Holiday’s so why take up valuable space in your closet year-round. Plus, it helps keep all your items together to create fun looks fast. Another great Tip is to Grab a great festive ribbon and use it as a belt. The ribbon is cheaper than purchasing a bow belt, and you can create a couple of them! For instance, the Large red ribbon belt I created above, so festive and really completed the outfit and just for a couple of bucks.
