Outfit Details On Trend For Spring

Hello, Pretty ladies,

I hope you had a great holiday weekend and that you got to enjoy an extra day of today. Unfortunately, it snowed all weekend and messed up Ben and I’s date night. We had to reschedule it for a day that had better weather as we were headed to Salt Lake and didn’t want to drive in a snowstorm.

Our weekend was still an entire house project, and I was also trying to accomplish the work I needed to finish on my blog, Amazon storefront, and Liketoknow. I need more hours in the day.

Today, I must have been feeling a little French-inspired or channeling my inner Coco Chanel with my outfit. I am sharing outfit details on spring trends that I think you’ll love and enjoy wearing in multiple ways this season. Today is just one look, but I’ll be styling these pieces multiple over the next few weeks.

Outfit Details On Trend For Spring

Today’s outfit combines trending stripes and wide-leg, high-waisted indigo denim, also trending for spring. This cute trending Lady’s Jacket is a fun Amazon find and affordable yet looks higher quality inspired by Chanel and is a cheaper version of the Jcrew version. The shorter length is flattering paired with high-rise, wide-leg denim. These flattering jeans and White Bodysuit are a “Best Seller” by Spanx.

The accessories here are classic pieces yet very much on trend for spring. A flower-detail pin looks designer and has a channel vibe. A simple, traditional thin belt with a gold buckle and platform loafers add to this chic look, as do a great Hobo satchel/tote. I am finishing with gold jewelry to match the gold buttons on the jacket.

I hope you had a great weekend. We finished our huge garage remodel and organization, and it looks so good! I’m glad that the project is over. I’m now moving on to getting my office/studio/coset finished. House projects have been consuming us as we are trying to complete everything and 100% remodel to get our home listed.

Now, enough of that, and let’s move on to what I wanted to share today. An Outfit Color Combo That Works Every Time.

One of this Spring season’s HOTTEST colors is cornflower Blue💙 paired with Camel and white… You can never go wrong with this color combo….Mix and match it anyway; it will look polished and put together. An Outfit Color Combo That Works Every Time: The right color combination can create great outfits, which makes it easy to shop your closet.

I have styled an Amazon blue & white striped button-up shirt with Spanx white flared jeans and the “3rd piece” Camel-colored faux leather jacket. Perfect for the Office, a lunch date, a cute teacher outfit, or just grabbing a coffee with a friend.

Tips that pull this look together

Tip: I tied the 3rd piece with a cap-toe ballet flat (the shoe’s base is Camel), which balances the jacket color. I also added a 4th color, the navy, in my bag💙 This adds a little texture to the look. Finish the outfit with gold accessories: A bracelet stack mix of Julie Vos & Lisi Lurch, a necklace stack, and earrings by Julie Vos.

Shopping in your closet is something I have always tried to encourage you to do. If you use my tips to help build a wardrobe with great wardrobe builders, you can easily recreate outfits from your wardrobe just by seeing what you may have that looks similar to an outfit that inspires you.

I challenge you to… Shop your closet and see how you can recreate an outfit that inspires you & hopefully, the outfit I am sharing here with you today might spark that! Here’s an Elevated casual outfit with a little bit of Romance, perfect to perk up a winter day or cute for Valentine’s Day.

Today, I wanted to bring to you Things you can still do in fashion and look current at any age without having to change your whole wardrobe just by making some little tweaks and not feeling like you have to jump on board with what you are seeing currently on trend or suggested on how you clean out your wardrobe.

I have started a series called “What I won’t be doing in 2023” In which I share baby steps in how you can accomplish a wardrobe that will have you looking chic and feeling good at any age without breaking the bank and having to start from scratch as well as helping you find your style while building a classic wardrobe that will fit your body type.

Each week I will be sharing “What I won’t be doing” along with the “WHY” and “TIPS” that you can use as suggestions to help you make decisions in your wardrobe, which I think can be helpful for you to follow, clean out and purchase smarter.

Stay Current In Fashion: What I Won’t Be Doing in 2024 Part 2

I won’t be Getting rid of All my low-rise jeans/pants
Jumping on Every 2024 Trend
Feeling the need to Clear out everything in my closet.

✨Won’t be getting rid of all my low-rise Jeans/Pants!

Here’s why:

Dress for your body type Not for what’s trending… Now, this doesn’t mean you can’t BE TRENDY…

What this means is to wear styles that are flattering on your shape and that you feel good in. So, if low-rise jeans/pants work on your shape great wear them. Keeping them current could mean picking a low rise in a straight leg or a flare, and maybe not a skinny.

Now if you love and look good in a skinny jean. Maybe try it in a Trending mid or high-rise style and see if that works on your body type.

It’s about balancing what looks good on you and what’s on trend.

✨Jumping On Every Trend in 2024✔️

Here’s why:

This has a lot to do with the above… It’s important to dress for your body type and feel good in what you wear.

Another way to Stay current with your wardrobe & wear what looks good on you is to pick a trending color or wear one trendy piece you do feel & look good in.

Tip: You may not like every trend, and that’s ok. it’s a suggestion on what’s current but not a must!

TIP: Trends are a great place to SAVE money when building your wardrobe… Don’t Spend a lot of money on trending pieces… Save that for the classic quality wardrobe builders.

Tip: Pick up Trending pieces at places like Nordstrom Rack, Target, Walmart, Amazon, TjMax,

Forever 21, H&M, or wait for a SALE.

By all means, if you LOVE a trend and you think you’ll wear that piece to death. Buy it🖤✔️ If you don’t pass on it✔️

✨Feeling the Need to Clear out everything in my Closet✔️

Here’s why:

When you build a great classic wardrobe full of good staple pieces, they don’t go out of style.

That’s why they’re called classics, you can transition them from season to season year after year. Read my Building a Classic Wardrobe post HERE.

I have pieces in my wardrobe I still wear that are 20 years old… Good quality pieces last, You can wear them year after year and I highly recommend you splurge on a few of them. This also means you don’t have to purchase them or clear them out as often

You may have noticed I have been sharing small tips on what you may want to keep and what you may want to clear out. I have a blog post coming next week on tips to help you clean out your closet. ( I might have to make this a series as well.)

Details on the outfit above:

This outfit looks and feels current. Yet the jeans are old (22-25 years old) The rise is lower, yet it’s a straight leg. Lower rise isn’t trending yet straight leg is, so they still feel current. I like the way my body looks in a lower rise, I am short-waisted so a lower rise helps create a waist on my body structure. The Straight leg keeps the jeans from feeling “dated” whereas if this low rise was a skinny jeans it would feel like a dated pair of jeans. Do you now see what makes a difference?

Now, If you have skinny jeans you like and feel good in, what will make them look like current jeans is to have a midrise or highrise to them. Low-rise jeans aren’t “trending” and “skinny Jeans aren’t trending so those would look dated. Unless you wore a tunic or oversized sweater with tall boots. Like I did in the photo below.

#1. I’m not throwing away ALL my skinny jeans!!!

⚠️You’ve seen midlife stylists throw them in the trash!!!! WHAT! ( yes, trends come and go, and some styles of jeans are more on trend in specific years… But…)

Here’s WHY: I won’t be throwing all of mine away or telling clients, too…

– Skinny jeans are genuinely the only jeans that work well with tall boots (which will be showing up big in 2024)

– Every figure is different and has different styles that flatter you.

-YOU know what you like and what YOU feel good in.

-You can Make Skinny Jeans “CURRENT” just by how you style them! (More on that later)

—They look great with Tunics and oversized sweaters. This gives the outfit balance

-They work on my body. My legs are one of my assets, and I try to teach my followers and clients to wear what works on your body! Accentuate your best parts.

– Being “CURRENT” can be as easy as picking a trending fabric and choosing it in a style that works for you—choosing a trending color and adding that to your accessories. It truly is in the little details, not your whole wardrobe.

#3. Not Caring what people think!

Here’s Why Fashion is an expression of yourself, NOT your AGE!

Tips to help you create a Holiday Capsule

TIP #1: You can easily create your own Holiday Capsule wardrobe, by going through your closet and seeing what could work to be festive… and start your rack. Then you can easily create looks with what you’ve put together.

Fabrics of the season satins, velvets, sequins, faux fur, tartan plaids, Pearl detail, and faux leather.

Colors of the season Shades of Red, green, Ivory, metallic, and black. Even Navy’s & Pinks💕

Don’t forget to Pull out your festive jewelry, bags, and shoes.

These tips also make it easier to know what you might need to shop for. (A great pair of trousers or a festive sweater.) You get my drift.

Tip #2 make sure everything you pulled fits✔️ nothing worse than thinking you have an outfit planned and then something doesn’t fit correctly.

Tip #3 Make sure your@hair do goes with your Outfit… The hair and makeup are the finishing details and finish off the look.

High neck or detail wear hair up, stunning statement earrings a chic low ponytail or low bun. bare shoulders hair down or 1/2 up. These are just a few hairdo ideas.
