I am finishing up the 3rd book, “The Southern side of Paradise,” In the Peachtree bluff series, and loving it. I highly recommend any of Kristy Harvey Woodson’s novels if you haven’t read them. She writes so detailedly, with fun characters you can relate to.

Binge-Worthy shows

If you want a couple of binge-worthy shows, I just finished Genny & Georgia on Netflix Crazy, what kids are going through and what a mom will do for her kids. If you like a murder mystery and suspense, YOU Is a pretty crazy show with twists and turns. In the 1st & the 4th season, we’re the best. Unfortunately, 2nd and the 3rd felt a little like serial killers!

If you love fashion and haven’t seen Mrs. Harris goes to Paris♥️ It’s a must! About a maid who sets her eyes on A Dior gown and saves and saves on purchasing a custom-made Dior gown at the house of Dior in the 1950s.

Here are a few of my Favorite Easter Recipes my family loves. My scallop potato recipe is a great Easter side paired with Ham. This Brussels Sprouts and Asparagus dish is another great side for brunch or dinner. They’ll love eating their veggies. As for dessert, my Easy Strawberry Shortcake is always a hit and tastes like Spring. Finally, check out Sunday’s blog post, as it will be my secret recipe for the BEST Carrot cake.

What is Galentine’s Day

Galentine’s Day is an unofficial holiday celebrated on February 13th. Hello pretty ladies,

I hope you are having a great week as we wrap up the first week of November. I wanted to share a recipe my family loves that makes a great side dish for the holidays. Creamy Brussel Sprouts and Asparagus Recipe is a great vegetable side dish for Sunday dinner, but I found it’s a dish that gets gobbled up at the holiday meals and when I take to a potluck style party. This will surely be a hit for you at your table or next party, even if you don’t like Brussels sprouts.

Creamy Brussel Sprouts and Asparagus Recipe Recipe

served a group of 15

2 24 oz bags Brussels cut in halves.

Two shallots chopped.

2 Tablespoons of chopped/ minced Garlic

One bundle of asparagus cut in thirds.

1 Lb of high-quality bacon.

32 oz of heavy cream.

2 tablespoons of chicken better than bouillon.

1/2 cube of butter.

1 cup of Parmesan.

1 cup of mozzarella

1/2 cup shaved Romano

1teaspoon salt

1 teaspoon pepper

1teaspoon onion salt

First, bake your bacon until cooked.

Then chop

Add to a pan your whole garlic and shallots until shallots are caramelized.

Then add 3 tablespoons of butter and your Chicken Bouillon and let melt.

Add 2 tablespoons of flour, cook, and stir.

Then add your cream and Parmesan.

Simmer and stir until everything is creamy.

Then pour over your Brussels and asparagus in a mixing bowl. Then put in a baking dish, only put half in and top with some mozzarella, then put the rest in and top that with the rest of your mozzarella.

Bake at 350 for 50 min.

I hope you have a great start to a new month. Can you believe it is August, and fall is fast approaching? I thought it was that time again to share a date night idea. You know I love spending time with my hubby and that we love a good date night. I try to share with you every so often fun date nights. Below I am sharing 3 Card Games For Datenight!

One of them was my favorite as a kid as we played UNO as a family and at all the holidays with relatives.

A bit of quality time can go a long way when it comes to deepening your relationship. The Gottman Institute states that dedicating two hours a week to romantic dates, including playing games or having meals together, is fundamental to creating a happy and healthy relationship.

Playing games can also be necessary for newer couples who want to break the ice and learn more about each other. After all, there’s always something new that you can learn about your partner, no matter how long you’ve been together!

So whether you’re getting to know each other or simply finding ways to liven up your dates, here are a few card games that can help you break the ice:

UNO

UNO is a well-loved card game that’s both fun and nostalgic.

In fact, UNO is a part of many family traditions and can be an exciting conversation starter. The rules remain simple and consistent: you can shuffle the deck before providing seven cards to each player. Then, you’ll take turns drawing a face-up card from the rest of the stack so that you can match one of your seven cards with the number or color of the face-up card. As you take turns drawing and matching cards, you can take this opportunity to talk about fun childhood memories regarding UNO. By taking your partner through memory lane, you can learn a bit more about each other and have a lot more fun while doing it.

Texas Hold ’em

Sometimes, you need a bit of competition to break the ice.

If you and your partner want some friendly competition, you can learn how to play Texas Hold ’em by going over the game’s rules together. In this poker variation, you and your partner will have to create the best five-card hand out of a set of seven cards: the five community cards that are revealed to all the players and the two hole cards that are unique for each player.

Creator Michael Tennant created game mechanics that lower players’ defenses and egos and allows players to speak with greater openness and intent. They are playing the Actually Curious card game challenges individuals to answer thought-provoking questions with honesty while also teaching the other party how to harness their empathy and active listening skills. Trying this game on your date can help you gain a deeper understanding of each other and grow much closer.

Card games can make your date even more interesting by providing thought-provoking questions or even a bit of a challenge. By playing one of these card games, you can make sure that you’re having the most fun while you’re in each other’s company.

Taking the time to date your spouse is essential to stay connected, share your thoughts, and catch up on your week. Life gets busy with family duties, work, and life. It’s really easy to disconnect and eventually grow apart.

Why You Should Date your Spouse:

Ben and I make a point to have a weekly date night. Time for just him and I, no kids, no work, no duties. It’s our time that we can enjoy each other and talk about what is going on in our lives. Spending time together keeps us emotionally connected, which helps with staying physically connected.

2. Walk– I love a good walk. Research a fun walking path, pack a light meal and incorporate a picnic.

3. Picnic– Pack a picnic and head to the Park or scenic area, take in the view, and have a meal.

4. Pool or spa – if you have one or have a community pool-make a charcuterie board and cocktails and enjoy some time together poolside.

5. Go for a drive– One of my husband’s favorite things is to take a Sunday drive. Depending on the time of the year, we’ll hop in the convertible, play some tunes and check out some new scenery.

6. Cook -a new recipe together

7. Coffee and chat– make coffees (tea), sit on the porch or deck, and catch up.

8. Home Spa day– hubbies can have home facials too. Pull out your Beauty products and give each other facials.

9. Hike– pack a picnic and go for a hike. It’s easy to find ones in your area. Google is your friend. In Utah, we like these four, depending on the level we’re feeling that day. 1. Water Fall canyon 2. Skyline trail 3. Ogden River Parkway trail 4. Wind Cave Trail

10. Concert– You say concerts aren’t free? Yes, a lot of areas have free concerts. It just takes a little google search. Live in Utah? Snowbasin has Blue, Brews & BBQ, and Music in the mountains at Powder Mnt. , Silly Sundays Park City, and Canyons village Summer concerts,

11. Movie night– pop some popcorn, grab a drink get comfy, and watch a movie you’ll enjoy.

Think of where you live. Are you close to the beach, a lake, wildflower fields, scenic roads, and rivers? All of these beautiful surroundings make for a great free date spot.

My favorite time of the year is finally here- Though admittedly, I’ve been decorating for the holidays since the beginning of November. (Annual Holiday Home Tour is Saturday on Instagram) Don’t worry, and I’ll be adding Decor ideas and this year’s Holiday Decor look HERE on the blog Sunday!

Our Chit Chat Chic Girls had a fun chat yesterday about some random holiday items, and we thought that would make for a great blog post. Quick & easy to read with some fun get to know us Holiday items. Do you do a red lip or red nails? A cookie swap? Have a favorite dish you take on repeat? Are you ready for the Holiday, or have you finished Christmas shopping? Do you host a party? Typical questions you ask your girlfriends, and that’s what we all are, right? Let’s get to the Christmas Chic Chat…

1. Do I do a Red Lip? I have tried it, and I look like a hooker!! But I have friends, and my sister sport a red lip and looks fab. So, one Red that did work for me is by Tom Ford that I can pull off with my big lips that look good, and I wear it only this time of the year and in February.

2. Do I wear Red or Holiday Nails? I sure do love a good Red with Blue undertones, not orange. However, I love Holiday Nails as well. In November, I started sporting Red Nails, and I just had a Holiday manicure done on Monday!

3. Are you done with your Shopping? Yes, Yes… I am!

4. Do you Host a Holiday Party? I host a small girlfriend’s party year every year. A sit-down dinner, yummy drinks, and everyone bring a “Favorite thing” gift for an exchange. Personally, I like the smaller group to be able to chat, spend time catching up with each other.

I threw a BIG Holiday cocktail party every year, and it just got too Big. It was fun, but we’ve moved past those times in our lives and love things scaled-down and spending quality time with those we love on a smaller scale. Hence the tiny Girlfriend Party was born.

I also Host Christmas Eve, Christmas Morning, and Christmas Dinner! It brings me great joy, and I wouldn’t have it any other way. If you do not have anyone to spend it with, you are welcome at our home, As a full house at Christmas is a blessing.

5. What’s your Favorite “go-to” Christmas Holiday Appetizer? I have made this crescent roll dill cream cheese Appetizer for years, and it comes highly requested! Recipe HERE

6. Have you ever hosted a cookie swap? I have not. But I have Hosted a gingerbread house decorating party several times, and it’s an enjoyable party to have.

7. Favorite Christmas cookie? I love Shortbread my recipe HERE, and I adore German Rasberry thumbprint cookies made by Vera (my mom’s friend and client). These are massive labor of love, and she would make us 3-4 cookies each every year until we moved to Utah. ( My mom has the recipe, and I will get it for you)

I wanted to share our How to Create an easy Thanksgiving Dining Tablescape setting with you. Because it’s not the traditional Fall feel with leaves and pumpkins, I went with a winter white, silver, and gold theme. And it feels elegant and warm. To give it a Thanksgiving feel, I picked up this fun silver pheasant from Target and added antlers and wooden details.

How to Create an easy Thanksgiving Dining Tablescape: Adding items

TIP: for adding layers to your Thanksgiving Dining Tablescape, find items around your home that work in your color/theme. Please pay attention to heights; find items from low to high, but not too high that you can’t see around it. I love pieces that are general and don’t scream a certain holiday so that you can use them more often. It helps for easy collecting because of items like glass, mercury glass, and solid colors like gold, silver, white, and red (red works for Christmas, Valentine’s day, and Summer). Pieces that give your table a glow like candles, votives, and candlesticks are great pieces to collect.

How to Create an easy Thanksgiving Dining Tablescape: Adding Layers

TIP: I love to share is to layer your tablecloth; this works great if you don’t have the perfect size for your Thanksgiving Dining Tablescape. Here I used a large plain white tablecloth that fits the table and to add a pop of design. I used the gold stripe meant for a smaller table, but you wouldn’t notice it doesn’t fit the table because of the layering. I also like to layer different tablecloths of different sizes if you don’t have one that fits! Just remember they need to be in the same color family for it to work.

Our table is for 8, yet I always buy everything in sets of 12. I do this in case anything breaks, or if I have extra people, we can make a kid table for 4 at our kitchen island. It is also because I am a little bit of a collector….(my boys are going to hate me when I die!)

I love collecting things to entertain and make life beautiful; I can throw any party at a moment’s notice because of the pieces I’ve collected over the years! Easy Cheesy Scallop Potatoe Recipe, Most requested side dish by my family and friends.

Easy Cheesy Scallop Potatoe Recipe:

4-5 LG potatoes sliced thin

1 can cheese soup

1/2 cup whip cream (unsweetened)

1 cup milk

1 cube of butter sliced

Cup green onions

2teaspoons salt

2teaspoons pepper

2 teaspoons season salt

1 tablespoon garlic

1teaspoon garlic seasoning

2 cup shredded cheese ( I use Mexican cheese)

1 sprayed casserole dish

Add all ingredients ( except potatoes, green onions, 1 cup of shredded cheese, butter)

Into a bowl, mix well.

In an oiled casserole dish

To Make: Easy Cheesy Scallop Potato Recipe:

Add a thin layer of potatoes, then a light layer of a mixture poured over potatoes, covering, add a couple of slices of butter, repeat… adding a layer of potatoes, then add mixture on top… top with the 1 cup of shredded cheeses sprinkles with green onions.

Cover with foil, place on a cookie sheet, and bake 50-60 min. Uncover, cook until the top is golden brown.

Ovens range in heat… adjust heat to your oven and time May very, due to oven.

Make sure potatoes are almost done before uncovering.

*If serving a large crowd, I’ll double or triple batch and use a large disposable tin pan!

These are such a hit at every gathering, from Family dinner, thanksgiving, and Christmas, that I never have leftovers!

Baked Potato Bar and Turkey Chili Recipe:

Baked potato Bar Toppings and Sides:

~Baked potatoes ( I cover in olive oil, sprinkle with sea salt before baking)

~ Chili

~Broccoli Cheese

~Nacho Cheese sauce

~Shredded cheese

~Onions ( yellow or white)

~Green onions

~Tomatoes

~ Bacon (I cook Bacon and chop up into bite-size pieces)

~Butter ( use real)

~Salt & Pepper

~Garlic Salt

~Sour cream

Sides:

-Fritos

-Tortila Chips

(great for people who might want Chili)

: Butter, Sour Cream

: Potatos, Hot Nacho Cheese Sauce

: Diced onions, Tomatoes

: Turkey Chili

: Potatos, Hot Nacho Cheese Sauce

: Broccoli and Cheese

Turkey chili Recipe:

-1 pound ground Turkey

-1 onion diced (white or yellow)

– olive oil ( enough to coat the pan)

-1. 15.5oz chili beans with sauce

-1 15.5oz kidney beans ( drained/ rinsed)

-1= 15.5oz pinto beans (drained /rinsed)

-1 green pepper diced

-1 red pepper diced

-1 =29oz tomato sauce

-1 chili seasoning pack

-1 tablespoon chili powder (a little less if you don’t like a touch of heat)

-1/2 tablespoon chili pepper flakes

-1/2 teaspoon onion salt

-1 Tablespoon minced garlic

-1 Tablespoon dried onion

-1/2 cup about ( enough to coat all the Turkey) Kitchen bouquet browning sauce (when browning ground Turkey, add to meat)

-Salt and pepper to taste

1 cup water or chicken broth (only if too thick) depending on how you like your Chili, you can add a little water)

How to:

Brown Turkey in olive oil, add kitchen bouquet, brown onion. Set aside

In a crockpot or large pan on the stovetop, add all ingredients above ( except water), stir, and add turkey and onions. Let simmer on low, stirring occasionally.

Crockpot on low if making in, am for dinner… if only a couple of hours can be on a high.

On a stovetop, simmer low.

Add water if needed. (we like our Chili a little thicker)

Enjoy with cornbread, saltines, Frech fries, or Fritos. Great on a baked potato. (as shown on Bar above)

I love to serve with all the toppings on the side.

Onions, tomatoes, cheese, bacon, sour cream, hot sauce, jalapeños
