Christmas Chit Chat and a Couple Recipes

Christmas Chit Chat and a Couple Recipes!Christmas Chit Chat and a Couple Recipes

My favorite time of the year is finally here- Though admittedly, I’ve been decorating for the holidays since the beginning of November. (Annual Holiday Home Tour is Saturday on Instagram) Don’t worry, and I’ll be adding Decor ideas and this year’s Holiday Decor look HERE on the blog Sunday!

Our Chit Chat Chic Girls had a fun chat yesterday about some random holiday items, and we thought that would make for a great blog post. Quick & easy to read with some fun get to know us Holiday items. Do you do a red lip or red nails? A cookie swap? Have a favorite dish you take on repeat? Are you ready for the Holiday, or have you finished Christmas shopping? Do you host a party? Typical questions you ask your girlfriends, and that’s what we all are, right? Girlfriends… So join us in sharing our conversation. All of us answered the questions on TODAY’S blog post…I hope you enjoy the conversation! (make sure to check out Cindy, Lisa, Michelle’s  blogs today.)

Christmas Chit Chat and a Couple Recipes

Let’s get to the Christmas Chic Chat…

1. Do I do a Red Lip? I have tried it, and I look like a hooker!! But I have friends, and my sister sport a red lip and looks fab. So, one Red that did work for me is by Tom Ford that I can pull off with my big lips that look good, and I wear it only this time of the year and in February.

2. Do I wear Red or Holiday Nails? I sure do love a good Red with Blue undertones, not orange. However, I love Holiday Nails as well. In November, I started sporting Red Nails, and I just had a Holiday manicure done on Monday!

Christmas Chit Chat and a Couple Recipes

3. Are you done with your Shopping? Yes, Yes… I am!

4. Do you Host a Holiday Party? I host a small girlfriend’s party year every year. A sit-down dinner, yummy drinks, and everyone bring a “Favorite thing” gift for an exchange. Personally, I like the smaller group to be able to chat, spend time catching up with each other.

I threw a BIG Holiday cocktail party every year, and it just got too Big. It was fun, but we’ve moved past those times in our lives and love things scaled-down and spending quality time with those we love on a smaller scale. Hence the tiny Girlfriend Party was born.

I also Host Christmas Eve, Christmas Morning, and Christmas Dinner! It brings me great joy, and I wouldn’t have it any other way. If you do not have anyone to spend it with, you are welcome at our home, As a full house at Christmas is a blessing.

5. What’s your Favorite “go-to” Christmas Holiday Appetizer? I have made this crescent roll dill cream cheese Appetizer for years, and it comes highly requested! Recipe HERE

easy appetizer to make fast

6. Have you ever hosted a cookie swap? I have not. But I have Hosted a gingerbread house decorating party several times, and it’s an enjoyable party to have.

7. Favorite Christmas cookie? I love Shortbread my recipe HERE, and I adore German Rasberry thumbprint cookies made by Vera (my mom’s friend and client). These are massive labor of love, and she would make us 3-4 cookies each every year until we moved to Utah. ( My mom has the recipe, and I will get it for you)

Some of my favorite Baking items:

8. Have you purchased a New Piece of clothing you are excited about this season? Really? Who are we talking too:) I am in love with this Sequined Duster, I purchased it in the Fall for the Holiday season, and it is back in stock! It is perfect for dressing up any outfit and great for NYE.

How to Create an easy Thanksgiving Dining Tablescape:

I wanted to share our How to Create an easy Thanksgiving Dining Tablescape setting with you. Because it’s not the traditional Fall feel with leaves and pumpkins, I went with a winter white, silver, and gold theme. And it feels elegant and warm. To give it a Thanksgiving feel, I picked up this fun silver pheasant from Target and added antlers and wooden details.

How to Create an easy Thanksgiving Dining Tablescape: Adding items

TIP: for adding layers to your Thanksgiving Dining Tablescape, find items around your home that work in your color/theme. Please pay attention to heights; find items from low to high, but not too high that you can’t see around it. I love pieces that are general and don’t scream a certain holiday so that you can use them more often. It helps for easy collecting because of items like glass, mercury glass, and solid colors like gold, silver, white, and red (red works for Christmas, Valentine’s day, and Summer). Pieces that give your table a glow like candles, votives, and candlesticks are great pieces to collect.

How to Create an easy Thanksgiving Dining Tablescape: Adding Layers

TIP: I love to share is to layer your tablecloth; this works great if you don’t have the perfect size for your Thanksgiving Dining Tablescape. Here I used a large plain white tablecloth that fits the table and to add a pop of design. I used the gold stripe meant for a smaller table, but you wouldn’t notice it doesn’t fit the table because of the layering. I also like to layer different tablecloths of different sizes if you don’t have one that fits! Just remember they need to be in the same color family for it to work.

Our table is for 8, yet I always buy everything in sets of 12. I do this in case anything breaks, or if I have extra people, we can make a kid table for 4 at our kitchen island. It is also because I am a little bit of a collector….(my boys are going to hate me when I die!)

I love collecting things to entertain and make life beautiful; I can throw any party at a moment’s notice because of the pieces I’ve collected over the years! So If you want to build your entertaining collection, keep following along with me. I plan on sharing more of my entertaining tips and collections with you as I have had so many of you ask for me to share this part of my life. Would you like a list of my basic entertaining starter kit? This would be the must-have items and then be able to build from that. *If so, please leave a comment below.

I love Thanksgiving and spending time with family and friends over good food, and I know you do too! So next time, make it a beautiful experience and share your love over a beautifully designed table; there is no better way to show off the hard work you spent in the kitchen. TIP: You can build your perfect table-scape weeks before to take the pressure off.

Shop some of my favorite Tablescape essentials:

May you have a beautiful Thanksgiving, yummy food, and a great time with your family and friends. We’ll be having a Friendsgiving as all of our family is out of town. Happy Thanksgiving from our home to yours! OX, D’Arcy

PS: Are you excited for Black Friday, or do you stay home and put up Christmas? This is my first year not in retail for the Holidays, and I can’t tell you how excited I am! I’ll be staying at home to decorate and enjoy my family. I will be shopping a little online, and I can’t wait to share with you all the deals I found this week for Black Friday, Small Business Saturday, and Cyber Monday! My DEAL post will go live tonight at MIDNIGHT!

No Cook Dinner, Perfect for Summer! Charcuterie Board

No-Cook Dinner, Perfect for Summer! Charcuterie Board

“Kitchens are made for bringing families together.”  Sunday dinner has always been an important part of our family’s weekly routine. When we lived in California, it was the day that ALL the family, grandparents, aunts, uncles, everyone was welcome, came over to enjoy a meal. A fun time to catch up on the week, spend time together chatting over a good meal: a special time and a special day. When we moved to Utah, our crowd was smaller, but the idea was the same, and over the years, our crowd has grown. Friends that have become family added girlfriends, and occasionally out-of-state family.

The importance of Sunday dinner and sharing recipes has become popular on my Instagram stories that I started sharing “In the Kitchen with D’Arcy” on my Sunday posts. Find HERE. I realized my blog following wanted more recipe content as well. With that being said, Sunday’s blog post will be dedicated to Recipes and sharing an occasional Family meal at our favorite restaurants, and showing our support for supporting local businesses.

Today, over on Instagram, I shared A great, No-cook Dinner…A Charcuterie Board perfect for a large crowd, a great Sunday dinner, with something for everyone. Talk about an amazing dining experience in the heart of Kimball Junction Heart & Hill was a foodie’s dream. We had the pleasure of being treated by The Park City Chamber  @Visit Park City on Instagram to this amazing Meal. Everything from the appetizers to the main course was delicious. Heart and Hill use top-quality ingredients, the chef has a very creative flair, and my hubby said his Halibut tasted as if it was caught that day in Alaska and prepared to perfection.

The atmosphere was Mountain modern, fresh and casual with a friendly wait staff. With a menu that has a great variety and offers many dishes for the vegetarian and other health restrictions. Serving craft cocktails and a full bar to quench your thirst, you won’t be disappointed. Highly recommend reservations.

Kicking off your Weekend getaway Should be a Massage at Alpen + Hyde Massage & Spa.

A great massage is an hour Vacation….Or in some cases, a 90 minute one.

Massages revive your body and help you prepare for the new week ahead. We had the pleasure of a 90 min Hot stone massage at Alpen + Hyde in Park City for our Little 3 day Summer getaway 🌿 Let me tell you, and it was our delight! Liz was my therapist, seriously the Best massage I’ve ever had. Her technique was amazing. While using the hot stones, she also incorporates cold stones to help relax the muscles. (I never had a cold used as well, amazing!) Ben had equally rave reviews about his therapist Olivia.

-The space is delightfully charming and relaxing,
With lemon water upon arrival and fruit and sparkling water served after massage.

-For those of you that don’t want to leave your home or hotel… they’ll come to you with a Mobile massage.  Perfect for that stay in pampered & relaxing vacation.

– Need to recover Fast from that hike, bike ride, or run? A massage should do the trick✔️

-Heading to @visitparkcity, make sure to book a massage, At  you won’t be disappointed ✔️🌿❤️ Alpen + Hyde

We had a great weekend getaway, and I highly recommend taking little mini weekend getaways with your spouse. It’s so good for your marriage and your soul. Park City has many things to offer, and I could go on and on. Instead, I will do a blog post-round-up featuring my favorite shops, dining, and activities as I was considering what you, my following said about liking blog posts with not too much reading and not all photos. With that being said, I hope you enjoyed this post. Make sure to put Park City on your travel list.

Use up those leftovers and create a Pizza night your Family will love. They can make their own and get creative to try new things. So if you plan your meals for the week and have a pasta night a few nights before, it works out great. Because I like to space out Italian food a couple of days apart, this helps to use up those little bits of leftovers you may have had.

What you need to build a pizza bar:

Rhodes rolls

Homemade Alfredo sauce recipe here

Homemade marinara or your favorite Jar

Asparagus (leftovers)

Sautés Mushrooms (leftovers)

Ham ( leftover Easter) That I had thrown in the freezer

Fresh sliced tomatoes

Mozzarella, Asiago, Romano, Parmesan cheese (leftover from this week’s Fettuccine night)

Chopped Garlic

Fresh Rosemary

Fresh Basil

Green onions

Olives

Italian seasonings

Garlic powder

Onion salt

Sea Salt

Balsamic glaze or vinegar

Olive oil

Preheat oven to 425 unless you have a pizza oven. We cook them for 10 or 12 minutes, depending on the range! It also depends on how crispy you like your pizza.

Tip using Rhodes Rolls to make the mini Pizzas.

These make individual mini pizzas. Ensure you do enough rolls per person; I did 2-3 per person. (for the rolls, follow the directions on the bag) Then after they’ve risen all day, each person flattens and pulls theirs out to shape and top with desired toppings. Some family members made little calzone instead of a mini pizza.

Building the Pizza Bar

Part of Building Your Own Pizza Bar’s fun is getting as creative as possible and trying different things on your pizza. My Family loves this interactive meal; it’s fun to hear them chat, joke, and talk their way through creating their pizzas.

Sangria Recipe:                                                                                                                                                                                                      I shared this Sangria on my stories, and My DMS were flooded for the recipe. I did say how to make it in the stories and saved to cocktail highlights, but I know a lot of you like a written copy.                                                                                                                 White Sangria recipe: is a Moscato wine, one bottle of your choice 1/4 jar lemon-lime soda (sprite) 1/4 jar lime La Croix and cup chopped pineapple, cup Strawberries, 1/2 cup blueberries. Add all to a glass pitcher or serving jar… The measurements were based on the jar 1/2 the pitcher was the wine, then 1/4 soda 1/4 sparkling water ( hope that makes sense) I did the same for the Red Sangri, a bottle of sweet red wine, 1/4 soda, 1/4 Sparking water and for the fruit I used one apple chopped, 1 cup of grapes cut up and 1 cup blackberries mixed. The best flavor is to make a day ahead. I hope you guys enjoy it because this #sangriawine is a winner in my book.

Charcuterie Board                                                                                                                                                                                           The Instastory that gave me more DMS then I could handle:) My festive Charcuterie Board that has something for everyone and can feed a large gathering. It’s effortless to put together, and many of you asked for a shopping list.                                 Here is what I used this time:
Grapes
Strawberries
Raspberries
Blackberries
Blueberries
Zucchini bread
Crackers (3) types
Carrots
Cucumbers
Hummus
Verity of cheese
Nuts
Chocolate
Crostini
I like to use little dishes on my board to give hight and keep the fruit from making the crackers soggy. Also great for cheese spreads and Hummus. There are so many ways you can create a great Charcuterie board, really no wrong way to create one.                                                                                                                                                                          Below are a few of my favorite items to help you create a great board

June Instagram recap: Baked goods                                                                                                                                                           June was the first month. We started using Wildgrain bread, pasta, and pastries made fresh than fresh frozen and delivered to your door. Ready for you to bake or cook when you need it. You guys loved my stories and wanted to try the service out for yourself. Some of the best Bread, pasta, and pastries my family has ever had. With this foodie family, that is hard to say. Date-Night.                                                                                                                                                                                                         June took us on a much-needed date night out at The Gateway in Salt Lake. We had dinner at Midici’s Neapolitan pizza company than A drive-in Theater experience. If you haven’t been to The Gateway in Salt Lake and live in Utah, you need to make your way down there. The outside dining, beautiful wall art murals, interactive parks, water features, window displays are so pretty and inviting. They have some unique shops and entertainment as well.

I hope you enjoyed my June Instagram Recap, sharing all the things you enjoyed in my stories, top sellers, and items you wanted more info on. I plan to do a recap at the end of every month, as this seems to be something you have been requesting. Please leave a comment below if there is something you would like me to write or share about. Have a Beautiful 4th of July. OX, D’Arcy
