Celebrate Mother’s Day In NYDJ and Your Mom

Hello Pretty Ladies,

Can you believe we’re at the end of April and heading into May? That happened so fast! I’ve had a lot going on since the beginning of the year, and I’m finally starting to feel like I’m seeing the light. With May starting tomorrow, that means Mother’s Day is just 10 days away, on Sunday, May 11th. I haven’t made any plans yet, but I’m looking forward to finally getting my pots and garden planted, as Mother’s Day marks the start of the growing season in Utah, when it’s safe to grow without a major freeze. Hallelujah!

I’ll share more about my garden, including my weekend garden shares, tips, and other updates, in future posts. I do have a great Garden Gift Ideas blog post up here, if you’re interested. Do you have a garden-loving mom? I am sharing several of the items I love and use.

Two basics you’ll want to add to your wardrobe, you’ll style so many ways and wear on repeat! The prettiest shade of pink Laren button-up top in beautiful silk. Fits true to size; I am in the small. Paired with NYDJ Light wash, slightly barrel jean, the leg isn’t too barrel that it’s a great width if you’ve been wanting to try but don’t want it to be rounded-denim in a size 4, I would say, size down, these are a little too big on me, I needed the size 2.. but super comfy and a great relaxed fit. (That Jean, you would wear every day)

A Walmart find: raffia/straw loafer with a horse-bit detail, true to size, and under $30. Paired with a gold metallic belt.

My Mom’s OutfitNYDJ’s

The oversized shirt boasts a stylish denim look, but it’s crafted from cool and breezy lyocell, which lends it a lightweight drape. Tailored menswear details, from a point collar to long sleeves with button cuffs to a back yoke, keep the design classic. I would Size Down in this top. Mom paired it wth these Mona Wide Leg Trouser Ankle Jeans, which also run one size smaller. She loved how comfortable this outfit is, and adored the shade of pink. It’s both our favorite color, in this shade.

As the weather gets warmer and spring rolls in, it’s always a good idea to switch things up and refresh your lifestyle. It can be something as simple as brightening up the dining table with a new springtime appetizer, such as tulip baguette bites. A previous post guides you through this easy-to-follow recipe that requires a few simple ingredients, including French baguette, cherry tomatoes, basil, chives, and spreadable cheese.

Aside from introducing new additions to your menu, springtime presents the perfect opportunity to update your wardrobe. To start, you can experiment with the latest spring dress trends, ranging from a cherry red palette as a fashion statement to boho chic vibes characterized by flowy fabrics, ruffles, and fringes.

Whatever trend you plan to incorporate into your everyday look, it goes without saying that a spring outfit wouldn’t be complete without footwear. However, if you’re planning to be out and about this spring, it’s worth considering the ballet flats from luxury label Patou’s collaboration with Japanese sportswear brand Onitsuka Tiger. The flats blend Patou’s distinctive feminine style with the sleek playfulness of Onitsuka Tiger sneakers. Made of Nappa leather and available in a pink and black colorway, these shoes are ideal for springtime walks around the neighborhood.

Kitten heels

Lastly, those looking to add a more feminine touch to their wardrobes can opt for kitten heels, which help you look equally chic and comfortable with the slender, low-mid heel. Like the aforementioned sandals and ballet flats, kitten heels have been around for decades, popularized by the French fashion house Dior.

However, they’ve emerged in modern, reimagined styles in recent years, as seen in celebrities like Ariana Grande and Sydney Sweeney. Grande wore her white kitten heels with a bow detail and lacy tights, while Sweeney looked effortlessly stylish in a casual tee, mini skirt, and open-toed kitten heels from Miu Miu. I don’t know about you, but I am so happy we are at the end of January and headed into the month of love. February has a special place in my heart as it is my hubby’s Birthday, our anniversary, and Valentine’s Day. These events give me something to look forward to almost every week, which also helps a winter month go by fast.

Another thing I love about February is the clothing. Hearts, pink and red, bows, bling, romantic and sexy clothing, and all the pretty things are many of my favorite things. Hello, pretty ladies,

I hope your week was a good one! It seemed to fly by for me, and I can’t seem to catch up and get everything done on my to-do list! Have you had weeks or months like this? With the Holidays fast approaching, it snowballs. November is my busiest month, with my Holiday Home decorating business, Styling clients, and blogging business—not to mention all the personal list to-dos! I’ve learned some tricks that help keep me organized.

Tips and Tricks to Staying Organized

I have learned to take a day at a time, and lists help me. It’s essential to have a weekly to-do list and break it down into daily parts… I highlight what I don’t finish that day and make it my first thing for the next day.

If you’re like me, you might have great expectations of what you can accomplish in a day, which can set your week up for failure. Instead, Make a priority list, a List of Things I would love to do, and an “If I have time” List. Break the priority list into items for each day. I have used this daily “Paper” calendar by Day Designer for several years.

Then, when you accomplish that day’s priorities, pick something from the other list. This will allow you to achieve your daily priorities and feel good about the day versus causing stress. Let me know if you try this little life helper or if you have a tip to help you accomplish your weekly goals. What do you do to keep yourself from stressing out over it?

12 Thanksgiving Outfit Inspirations

Hello Pretty Ladies,

I can’t believe we are in October’s last couple of days, and Halloween is tomorrow! How did that happen? This also means that Thanksgiving will be here before we know it, which inspired today’s blog post. 12 Thanksgiving outfit inspirations to inspire you, whether you are cooking all day and like to be cozy and comfortable, entertaining a small gathering and casual but a little elevated, or your family tradition is to get dressed up. Maybe you are somewhere in between. I have created some cute outfits that will fit all of the above.

Suzanne, Dawn, Cindy, and Stephanie, who is new to our new group, are joining me today on our monthly blog hop. 12 Thanksgiving Outfit Inspirations from Cozy, elevated casual to dressed up. No matter how you like to spend your Thanksgiving day, I have an outfit inspiration I think you’ll love.

I posted a poll on Instagram asking what style you wore on Thanksgiving, and it was a tie for Cozy outfits and elevated casual for the most requested outfit inspirations. This didn’t surprise me, as we have become such a casual society. I know so many cook all day, have football games or head outside to play a family ball game.

I cook all day for our family, including family and friends. Please give me a good reason to get dressed up. Having a pretty table and using my china make me feel I need to dress the part. That said, I tend to dress up a little, even if it’s just a sweater and trousers or a silk blouse and trousers, which can still be comfortable. Last year, I did wear a dress. I had so many pretty clothes for the season, and it was a shame not to wear them.

Cozy Outfit inspirations

Below, you’ll find four great options for being cozy and comfortable while still looking put-together and chic. These looks are affordable and can be mixed with other items in your closet to mix and match all season long. A couple of these looks are also great for Holiday travel, as that always seems to be something people need inspo for.

I can even picture a few of these outfit looks outside playing flag football with the family!

Elevated Casual Outfit Inspirations

Fall outfit inspo

Here is one of my favorite elevated casual outfits featuring pieces you can use for work wear! I find myself grabbing these pieces weekly.

My favorite go-to jeans of the season are Risen jeans. They fit and feel like premium denim at a fraction of the cost. They are under $70 and fit true to size. I am in a 27 for reference.

The mixed plaid blazer in shades of fall has been a favorite go-to for a couple of seasons now. Unfortunately, it’s unavailable, but I linked this year’s version with the same vibe, fit, and colors. It fits true to size. I got a medium so I could layer sweaters under it.

Cable sweater Turtleneck sweater by Banana Republic factory. It’s so soft, fits true to size, and is the perfect shade of camel that works with so many fall outfits. Mine is a couple of seasons old; I linked you a great option with the same vibe here.

Leopard accessories are a great way to add interest and a pop of pattern to an outfit to make it interesting. My go to Belt and these large buckle leopard kitten heals are so good, I can’t stop wearing.

Dressed-up Outfit inspirations

#9 Leopard Skirt outfit

It is a great way to wear a leopard skirt dressed up for the Holidays. I wore this look to church last week, as I love dressing up for church; it allows me to be creative and use pieces in my wardrobe that I love to wear yet don’t have a lot of places to wear. This Amazon finds leopard skirt fits true to size, Paired with a Black Pumiey bodysuit that also fits true to size; I love how a bodysuit is fitted and doesn’t add bulk, especially with a flowy skirt with an elastic band. Another styling must be done when wearing a bottom with an elastic band, and you must make sure you add a belt. Here, I added a wide chocolate brown belt with studs to cover the band, flatter the waist, and add interest.

A Chocolate faux leather jacket, which fits true to size, is a great “third” piece for any wardrobe. A third piece is that layering piece that adds interest and layers to an outfit, taking it from drab to fab. It’s a great tip to finish off any outfit. Accessories

Great styling, but it comes down to adding interest with accessories. I’ve said it before, and I’ll repeat it: accessories finish the outfit and add interest to your style. I purchased these vintage suede Mary Jane heels with stud details over 25 years ago. I fell in love with them, and I adore them now. Mary Janes is having a big moment this year, which is one reason I tell my clients to save certain items, especially if they love them. Some older or Vintage pieces in your wardrobe keep your style from looking like everyone else. It adds character to your outfit, especially if you can bring pieces out that might be on trend again; yours will be that unique piece that stands out just a little bit more. Here is a similar pair of Mary Jane heels.

Speaking of vintage, I pulled out another piece from my archive, this great multi-chain statement bib necklace I purchased 15 or 17 years ago from Bauble Bar. It’s technically not vintage yet (something needs to be 20 years old to be labeled vintage.) This outfit would have looked great with this Julie Vos chunky chain necklace. Hello Pretty Ladies,

It’s officially Fall! Wow, I think that was the fastest summer ever! I love summer and Fall—my two favorite seasons—and they seem the shortest here in Utah! Fall means my birthday month is coming. I have my Fall bucket list ready and am looking forward to crisp mornings and evenings and the stunning shades of the season.
