Hello Pretty Ladies,

Happy Friday! I hope you have something fun planned for the weekend. It’s beautiful here in Utah, and I am looking forward to a fall foliage drive with my hubby and lunch out. I am now one week and two days post-operation and a little tired of being at Home. The little outing will do me some good.

Other than that, I feel better every day and must remind myself that I can’t do everything I am used to. As I am sure you are aware, we moms go go go and do do do, and we do have to take the time to heal when we have something wrong with our health. Slowing down and taking the time you need to heal is okay. I keep reminding myself of this daily.

“Healing in a matter of time, but it is sometimes also a matter of opportunity.”

Hello Pretty Ladies,

Today, I am sharing a little about my hysterectomy. I am one-week post-operation and feeling pretty good. I could return to some normal activities by how I feel now, yet I know I could do damage and set myself back. It’s also not recommended by the doctors as a hysterectomy is a 6-week healing process… So, I am still taking it easy, reminding myself to rest and let my body fully heal. That’s so hard for us busy “doer” types. 

 

 

Health Update: 

One week today post operation ✔️, I shared a touch about having a Hysterectomy a couple of weeks ago on my live with Suzanne @crazyblondelifeblog. If you want to watch, it’s in the feed HERE. I had a large tumor in my uterus (more prominent than a grapefruit or baby’s head) and an enlarged uterus.  The surgery went well, although much longer than estimated. It took 51/2 hours (average Complete Hysterectomy takes 2.5-3 hours). The surgeon also told my family it was one of the most complex surgery she’s ever done.

I have a high pain tolerance, and honestly, I wasn’t in much pain from the Hysterectomy. I was tired, it hurt to go potty, and I had mild cramping. The worst pain was in my shoulder, and I mean horrible pain. What I learned was called shoulder strap, and it’s prevalent after surgery, from the gas that they pump into you for the surgery, which travels up and settles in the shoulder when they set you up. Man, oh man, does it hurt! I wish I had known this was a thing, and I could have prepared, but knowing if I took some gas X, it would have gone away much faster. For me, it took about day 5 to get relief.

Upcoming updates:

I will share more updates and how I feel as the weeks go on, in case you are curious about or may consider having a hysterectomy. It was surprising to learn that 50% of women must have a Hysterectomy. Another big concern is a hysterectomy sends you straight into menopause. I am 51 and haven’t had a period in over a year, maybe two years; I believe I am already in menopause or hopefully past it. I’ll keep you updated as time goes on with the after-effects of a Hysterectomy. I’ve shared my prior Hormone Journey Here

I feel so blessed in many ways…

My surgeon knew I wanted a complete hysterectomy, and I wanted laparoscopic/ vaginal surgery with a 6-week recovery versus the abdominal way with a 12-week recovery. 

Blessing #1: God is good, and always in complete control🙏🏻

#2Blessing  The Surgeon listened and worked hard to give me what I wanted -versus doing what was easier for them.🙏🏻♥️ 

Blessing #3: I was scared of surgery as I have never had one… Power of Prayer🙏🏻 from Family and friends. I had complete peace the day before and the day of surgery 🙏🏻♥️

Blessing #4 NO Cancer

#5 Blessing: fantastic family and friends sending love, prayers, meals, and flowers🙏🏻♥️🙏🏻♥️🙏🏻 I feel so loved!

Blessing #6 Forced to slow down, which has allowed me to work on things for my business♥️

Blessing #7: I woke up😂

A quick couple of Tips:

-Communicate with your Doctors and surgeon! If you don’t feel you’re getting what you want or need, get a 2nd opinion.

– Ask a lot of questions???

-Make sure they hear you and your concerns!

9 Fall trends you can wear at any age

Get your wardrobe ready with this Fall edit of the new season’s trends I’ve spotted. From sophisticated Modern Prep, to cool Biker Chic and versatile Denim Remix, They’re real trends for real life, curated just for you. Fall trends you can wear at any age.

Summer Styles That Can Transition Into Fall Barbie Approved

Get your wardrobe ready with this Fall edit of the new season’s trends. 

Cargo pants – sharing a fun twist with the Satin cargo pants. Great to dress up with a festive top and sparkling jewelry for date night or cocktails.

Coated jeans – are a must from metallic to faux leather, easy to style with a button-up top, or a sweater, or layer them both and add a blazer. Festive for the upcoming holidays as well. 

Denim on Denim – layering denim pieces for a chic, easy Fall outfit. Denim on denim makes a great basic outfit, And you can change its look of by adding a 3rd  piece…. 

TIP: A great 3rd piece could be… a blazer, cargo jacket, Leather jacket a sweater cardigan. The possibilities are endless✔️ Add some texture and pattern with your accessories. Below I added faux calf hair leopard print loafers and a pop of metallic gold with the clutch.

The rich bold color of Red – from Red clothing to a pop of red with accessories. This color is coming in hot for Fall and looks great paired with cream and brown tones.

Tip: red looks good on everyone, just find the right shade that will work on your skin tone.  Picking the right Blue or orange undertones makes a big difference in your skin type

Wide-leg jeans & pants – If you only purchase 1 new Fall item, make it a pair of Wide-leg jeans. So flattering and versatile. Dress them up or wear them casually. Flattering on every body type. Just make sure to wear a tighter top to keep the look balanced. I love the Spanx wide-leg pants and flares. They fit great and flatter every figure. (shared below)

Layering Cardigans and Blazers– Take the traditional Fall cardigan and blazer and make it New by layering the cardigan or vest under the blazer for a chic preppy look. The best Blazers that flatter the figure and taper at the waist are by Gibsonlook (shared below)

Tartan Plaid– a Fall staple🍂 but for 2023, we’re seeing it on everything from shoes and accessories to sweaters, pants, and dresses. Not a pattern for just blazers and coats this season.

Sweater Dresses– Another Fall staple, worn with boots and layered with blazers, denim jackets, and even a leather jacket. In 2023 we’re seeing in in every length and neckline. I love the turtleneck sweater dresses. 

Turtlenecks– Not just for your average ski sweater in 2023… This classic and preppy style is showing up on dresses, tees, lightweight sweaters, and chunky sweater styles. Perfect for fall layering and adding a classic and polished look to any outfit. 

Trends we’re still seeing:

Still going strong are the silky slip dresses, the corset look, Sweater dresses, and the Boxy blazer. We saw them last year.

TIP: Make it fresh by adding in one of this season’s trends. Add a sweater over a slip dress or pair it with a blazer. Wear a boxy blazer over a turtleneck sweater dress, and maybe pair that corset over a turtleneck body suit and wear it with wide-leg pants.

Neutral color tones and fall plaids are always in season this time of the year. 🍂 Fall seasonal go-to’s like these Tartan plaids, turtlenecks, and layering Cardigans and blazers seem to always be on trend for fall.

TIP: Pairing these Fall seasonal go-to’s with something fresh and on trend this season upgrades your fall wardrobe without spending a lot of money.

I created this fun outfit for date night, but it could also be worn for a girl’s night out, grabbing a cocktail after work or a meeting. Black jeans with frayed hem, so comfortable and long enough for tall girls. It fits in size and is great for casual Fridays with a button-up top or sweater. 

This one-shoulder detail top with chain details and bat wing arms is so flirty and playful. Perfect for a date- night. Comes in several colors and prints. It looks great with the black jeans above.

It’s one of the pairs of Jeans I’ve been wearing on repeat.

A great fit, flattering, and easy to style. Wear it with every top you own, and it looks great, from button-ups and tees to sweaters and blazers. This jean style works. This is a jeans you can wear from Causal to chic.

This one-shoulder with bow top would be cute dressed up with leather or satin pants for date night or the holidays. Also, darling styled with jeans and a loafer for a more casual look.

September is here and the official first day of Fall is in just a couple weeks. Which has me excited, As most of you know Fall is my favorite season. I adore all things fall from fashion to home and all things pumpkin-related! So I hope you’re ready for everything fall-related to be showing up here and on my other platforms. 

I thought it would be fun to share Fall shoe trends with you. Shoes can make an outfit and this year we’re seeing some fun changes from what we’ve seen the last couple of years. I Love seeing a lot of feminine pretty shoes. Bow details are big, pointed-toe pumps, metallic is huge from shoes and accessories to clothing. I love ballet flats & Mary Janes are having a moment, wedge soles on booties & boots, and one of my favorites from last season, the chunky loafer.
