After the busy holidays and the start of a new year, self-care is the perfect way to refresh and start a new skincare and self-care regimen.

I love to take one of the days on the weekend and set aside an hour or two for a facemask with a complete skincare regimen, a hot bath, refreshing lemon water, which is so important for your body, and some time for my daily devotional or book. I feel nothing like a long soak in the tub with a good book to relax and take your mind off things. It is proven taking time for yourself helps improve mental health, Spark creativity, Boost self-esteem, create empathy for others. And your Skin, body, and mental health will all benefit as well.

Due to adding in the facemask, these steps are a little longer than the normal daily skincare regimen.

My favorite time of the year is finally here- Though admittedly, I’ve been decorating for the holidays since the beginning of November. (Annual Holiday Home Tour is Saturday on Instagram) Don’t worry, and I’ll be adding Decor ideas and this year’s Holiday Decor look HERE on the blog Sunday!

Our Chit Chat Chic Girls had a fun chat yesterday about some random holiday items, and we thought that would make for a great blog post. Quick & easy to read with some fun get to know us Holiday items. Do you do a red lip or red nails? A cookie swap? Have a favorite dish you take on repeat? Are you ready for the Holiday, or have you finished Christmas shopping? Do you host a party? Typical questions you ask your girlfriends, and that’s what we all are, right? Girlfriends… So join us in sharing our conversation. All of us answered the questions on TODAY’S blog post…I hope you enjoy the conversation! Let’s get to the Christmas Chic Chat…

1. Do I do a Red Lip? I have tried it, and I look like a hooker!! But I have friends, and my sister sport a red lip and looks fab. So, one Red that did work for me is by Tom Ford that I can pull off with my big lips that look good, and I wear it only this time of the year and in February.

2. Do I wear Red or Holiday Nails? I sure do love a good Red with Blue undertones, not orange. However, I love Holiday Nails as well. In November, I started sporting Red Nails, and I just had a Holiday manicure done on Monday!

3. Are you done with your Shopping? Yes, Yes… I am!

4. Do you Host a Holiday Party? I host a small girlfriend’s party year every year. A sit-down dinner, yummy drinks, and everyone bring a “Favorite thing” gift for an exchange. Personally, I like the smaller group to be able to chat, spend time catching up with each other.

I threw a BIG Holiday cocktail party every year, and it just got too Big. It was fun, but we’ve moved past those times in our lives and love things scaled-down and spending quality time with those we love on a smaller scale. Hence the tiny Girlfriend Party was born.

I also Host Christmas Eve, Christmas Morning, and Christmas Dinner! It brings me great joy, and I wouldn’t have it any other way. If you do not have anyone to spend it with, you are welcome at our home, As a full house at Christmas is a blessing.

5. What’s your Favorite “go-to” Christmas Holiday Appetizer? I have made this crescent roll dill cream cheese Appetizer for years, and it comes highly requested! Recipe HERE

6. Have you ever hosted a cookie swap? I have not. But I have Hosted a gingerbread house decorating party several times, and it’s an enjoyable party to have.

7. Favorite Christmas cookie? I love Shortbread my recipe HERE, and I adore German Rasberry thumbprint cookies made by Vera (my mom’s friend and client). These are massive labor of love, and she would make us 3-4 cookies each every year until we moved to Utah. ( My mom has the recipe, and I will get it for you)

7 Beauty Products I Used Up

My honest review of the product I’ve used up over the last couple of months. 7 beauty products I have purchased on repeat and worth giving a try.

1. Tula Purifying Face Cleanser = Probiotic gel-based cleanser removes dirt and impurities and makeup gently and effectively. Use morning and night. I have been using this product for over two years and love how it cleans my face. Not drying and indeed removes all makeup while leaving my skin feeling clean and fresh. This is a purchase again, in my book product.

2. Tula 24-7 Moisture= Hydrating day & night cream leaves my skin feeling hydrated without oily. In addition, it helps my dry skin. As I have aged, my skin has gotten dryer and needs this product. I have also been using this product for the last couple of years. I use it in my morning routine.

3. Tula Balanced Beauty Gummy Vitamins= Probiotics and superfood Gummie vitamins for solid hair, skin & nails. These Berry-flavored gummies taste great, and with Biotin & Folic Acid, I noticed a difference in my hair and skin. This product is my 3rd bottle, and I used it for three months to make sure I was giving it an honest review and to provide the product with a chance to see if it worked as it claimed. I will continue to use it.

4. Tula So Pumpkin Exfoliating Sugar Scrub= This gentle sugar & fruit enzyme scrub with pumpkin smells amazing, improves skins texture, helps unclog pores, and leaves your skin feeling so soft and radiant. If you love the smell of pumpkin and like smooth, soft skin, you’ll love this product. I highly recommend it.

5. Loreal Sublime Bronze self-tanning water mousse= A natural-looking tan in 4-6 hours, doesn’t have that yucky self-tanner smell, doesn’t streak, is so easy to use. Affordable and my go-to self-tanner.

6. SeroVital Suddenly Smooth Gentle RetinAll=Anti Wrinkle, visibly lifting cream for mature skin. 2% Retinol Compound Epidermal growth factor. You can use this product day and night if followed with sunscreen. It was gentle enough and not drying like a lot of products that contain Retinol. Although I did like this product for my neck, I did avoid using it on my cheeks, which tend to be dryer.

7. Serovital TriHydrate Concentrate= 3% Purified Hyaluronic Acid use Am or Pm before moisturizing. Hyaluronic Acid is an ingredient everyone should use in their skincare.

Sharing my TOP 5 Favorite Things each month seems to be a favorite of yours. Therefore, I love to share them with you. MY 5 Favorite Things for August! Using, Wearing, Eating.

3. A Large Fresh Green Salad, with Farm Fresh locally grown tomatoes. Nothing better than locally grown tomatoes. Cucumbers, green onion, Chicken ( I use roasted chicken store), Blue cheese crumbles with Pepper and Italian dressing. ( If I have an Avocado, I add that too)

4. Jumping for joy over this jumpsuit! Talk about easy to wear, easy to style, and perfect for travel! I have been living in it lately. Hands down one of my Favorite Things! It has a lot of fabric, so size down, Ties at the neck, and has a lower back. I am in size small. For fall, you could style with a blazer or leather jacket. Going on a Tropical Vacation? This would be darling over a swimsuit.

Skin pH: Is Yours Out of Balance?

It’s time to dig up your good old chemistry textbooks because your knowledge of pH levels is one of the keys to healthier skin. This scientific measurement, a scale that tells how acidic something is, will help you understand the problems of your body—and this includes persistent skin problems! So let’s dig a little deeper and discuss pH levels so that you can soothe and restore your skin.

What is Normal for the Skin?

In an ideal world, your skin is acidic with a pH level that falls between 4.1 to 5.8. It may be terrifying to think that your skin likes to be acidic, but don’t worry too much. Just be aware that it definitely needs to be on the lower end of the pH scale to be as healthy and natural as possible. Once your skin is at a pH level that makes it happy, it can properly seal in moisture and serve as a barrier against free radicals, pollution, and environmental irritants.

However, your skin may drastically slide to a higher pH level (or even lower than normal) because of numerous factors. These include the hygiene products that you use. Do you know those soaps, detergents, or leave-on products that smell strong to your nose and irritates your skin? They may cause your skin’s natural state to go haywire, bringing forth several conditions as a reaction to the change.

How pH Levels Affect Your Skin

And bring numerous problems to the surface of your skin. For example, you may experience eczema, dryness, itchiness, oiliness, and even acne as your natural barriers get compromised. In fact, people are more likely to develop fine lines and wrinkles if their skin rises to a higher pH level. So before you aggressively apply products to your skin, you need to be aware that it will fight back by showing various skin conditions.

How to Restore Your Skin’s Ideal pH Levels

To keep your skin happy and healthy, you must maintain the right acidic pH level. However, this doesn’t mean that you only need to use skincare products with acids…and it’s also not an invitation to rub the juices of citrus fruits on your skin.

Being aggressive with products is not the key to a good skincare routine. Your skin definitely needs a lot of TLC so that it can properly carry out its normal functions. Therefore, you need to use gentle products for your sensitive skincare regimen to keep it calm, resilient, and healthy. Start your routine with a calming gel cleanser that can remove dirt and impurities without affecting your skin’s natural barrier. It would be best if you also used a moisturizing cream to soothe and hydrate your skin, keeping it supple and healthy.

If you need an extra boost, acid-based serums at the right concentrations can help you get to that happy, acidic spot. For instance, serums with lactic acid can gently exfoliate your skin, while mandelic acid serums can get even out your skin tone. Just remember to use these products carefully since they can have high acidic concentrations that will make your skin react when it gets too much!
