A quick little introduction to Chit Chat Chic

Hello Pretty Ladies,

I hope your January is going well. Most of you know I belong to a beautiful group of mid-lifers Called Chit Chat Chic. 5 of us, Cammi, Lisa, Michelle, and Cindy.

What is Chit Chat Chic?

We started CCC over a year ago. We all had crossed paths at some point on our social media and blog journeys, sparking a group Instagram share that Lisa organized…

This share started a dm, and we quickly became fast friends via Instagram. We shared several things in common: midlife, raising families, careers in social media marketing, fashion, beauty, and our faith.

Realizing we all clicked, loved this friendship and bond we had created, and loved the support system we had. So we decided to do more together, collaboration blog posts, Instagram shares, Pinterest boards, and a Marco Polo, where we chatted daily.

How Chit Chat Chic was born

Instagram launched a new feature, the 4-way Live option… I thought… this would be an excellent opportunity to share our combined knowledge and friendship and interact with our followers to build relationships with other midlife ladies on our platform.

Instagram Live is how Chit Chat Chic Was born.

We knew we needed to be consistent picking, a day and time that worked for everyone weekly…

Originally on Tuesday, at 6:00 pm Mnt. However, for 2022 we had to change it to Wednesday at 6:00 Mnt.

How Chit Chat Chic Live works!

We go Live on Instagram every Wednesday at 6:00 pm Mnt. With 4 CCC members ( 1 spot alternates out) for the week. 1 Host the live, with 3 co-hosts. ( occasionally a guest host) With any of our following or non-following tuning into the live on Instagram. A LIVE = in Live time with the ability to chat.

The Host picks a topic and has 6-7 questions prepared. Then, we discuss the question/ show samples if applicable and allow our following to be active in the conversation by typing their responses.

The Topic is different every week and varies from Midlife issues, fashion, helpful tips, and reviews on products.

Why Chic Chat Chic Live?

We love having this connection with our following, as we are building friendships and a community of women supporting women.

Having your following connect with you and you with them helps them get to know us from behind a screen and allows us to learn more of what our followers want and need.

What’s ahead for Chit Chat Chic?

We have had the opportunity to start traveling together and working with brands as a group. Last August, we were Host in Park City and had the chance to work with several businesses and brands, which was exciting and opened doors for more collaborations like this.

We have several Trips planned for 2022.

Chit Chat Chic Has its own Instagram account! And we’re thinking about a podcast. Exciting things ahead….so stay tuned.

New Year New You? 3 Things I am adding to my Routine in the New Year.

Hello Pretty Ladies, And Happy New Year! So I just wanted to share a couple of things I am working on for my health and diet for January.

Last week, I shared on the blog about adding habits/goals how I like to build on small intentions or goals once a month instead of making an extensive list and trying to accomplish it all at once. Trying to stay consistent for the whole year can be difficult and cause failure. (more on that HERE) Last week, we also had a fun Live Chit Chat Chic on Several New Years Topics, intentions, fitness, and health plans for 2022.

I thought it would be good to share a couple of the things I started on January 3rd and take you on my journey here and in stories on Instagram. New Year New You? Things I am adding to my Routine

#2 is I am doing 30 days of Whole30. I like to do this a couple of times in the year. Because it helps me to shed a few pounds, Mainly because it helps me clean up my diet, reset my body, and gives me more energy and the taste for healthy food. Whole30 is a great way to get rid of your cravings. Whether it’s sugar, carbs, or alcohol, Whole30 resets your taste buds, if you will.

Here are some great Whole30 approved foods I use below:

#3 is to add in more fiber. My girlfriend Jane @southernshine2017 lost 40 pounds over a couple of months by adding 30 grams of fiber into her diet. Because of this, I thought I would give it a try. Next week, I will blog on what I am eating to get fiber in my diet.

6 New Year questions?

We had 6 New years Questions on our Live Chit Chat Chic about All things New Year’s Eve. It was so fun to hear our following responses, and they loved ours, so I thought I’d share a little recap!

1. Do you Stay in or Go out? Most of our following said to stay in….For us, New Year’s Eve really does depend on the year. Sometimes we do get all dressed up and go out. This year we stayed in, Got in cozies, had the fire going, put on a movie, popped a bottle, and had a beautiful dinner at home, just the two of us.

2. Do you have a New Years Tradition? Our following had answers from having a bonfire (burning their trees), playing games and having a dinner of all appetizers, having a movie night in pj’s, and watching the ball drop. Growing up, my mom always did appetizers and a Charcuterie board (not called that then). We’d sometimes play UNO or Yahtzee, and we always had Dick Clark’s NYE in Time Square on tv. We did almost the same when we raised our family, but our boys liked a movie marathon—all of the Star Wars or one of the Marvel series.

3. Are you a goal setter or prefer setting intentions, or Do you pick a Word? The answers on this one were all over… some Set goals and then set themselves up to Fail (in a funny way), Or some set only a couple of goals so they could work on obtaining several set intentions or picked words.

I do a little of each, and I do make a list. I also create a vision board to go with the list. This list is because I do believe in Manifestation. Our brains are powerful. And I am writing down and visualizing sets the ball in motion. Also, set intentions that are small things I can change or add and make buildable.

I heard about building on small intentions a couple of years ago. Minor changes you want to make… set one a month, and when you accomplish that after 30 days, add another one. Like drinking more water, this was on several lists) add a bottle a day, then two, etc., until you hit your goal.

Then add another intention or habit, like walking, and repeat. I have done this the last couple of years, and it does help. For example, I wanted to walk more and be consistent the previous year! I accomplished it by adding a day and adding miles each time. In addition, I added in my water goal to drink 128 oz a day the year before. These Bottles helped me! Achieve my new habit and stick to it.

4. Do you like a paper planner/ calendar, organizer, or computer program? A paper calendar/planner was by far the most popular. We Could have spent a whole hour on just this topic. All the CCC girls like a paper planner/ organizer. Here is my planner. You can get it in a week at a glance or a day at a glance. I like the day at a glance as it has more room for my lists, to do, work, etc.

5. Do you have 1 Thing you want to accomplish in 2022? Our CCC didn’t have time to answer—kind of hard to respond fast. Here is one of mine=. We want to get our home sold. That would be a great accomplishment for us. So, if you know anybody wanting to relocate to Utah, message me.

6. Are you starting a fitness/ health plan? People loved this one, and most were beginning some diet, exercise journey had a health goal, etc. For example, drinking more water was a significant health goal, so was eating cleaner and cutting out sugar. Some were starting programs etc.

I shared a few of my intentions/build on from years past. – Drinking more water -regular exercise-30 mins of reading- better vitamin regimen-nightly skincare Regimen. I accomplished all of them and still do because of the buildable technique I learned.

This year I am adding more Fiber to my diet, Adding in a new monthly Bible study workbook. Weekly, and adding more fitness in other than walking and Pilates.

Orange Glazed Walnut Salad with Chicken!

Sunday, “In the kitchen with D’Arcy “brings you my Orange Glazed Walnut salad with chicken. With Honey orange Balsamic dressing! Serve alone or with soup and rolls. Perfect for Winter… super easy to whip up!

Recipe: Serves 6

-1 bag of 50/50 salad

-1 bag of Iceberg salad

-4 Grilled Chicken breast chopped

– 1 15oz Can mandarin oranges drained (save the juice for dressing)

– 1 Cup dried Cranberries (great for color)

– 1 1/2 cup Feta or Blue cheese crumbles ( I love the Blue cheese)

-1 6.5oz bag of Emerald Glazed Walnuts

-1 cup Brianna’s creamy Balsamic dressing

1 Tablespoon Honey

-1/2 teaspoon salt & pepper

Salad

Open the bagged salads and give them a good chop, toss them together and plate on six plates, layer or sprinkle the mandarin oranges, chopped chicken, nuts, cranberries, and cheese….

Salad dressing =mix Brianna’s balsamic with 1/2 cup of mandarin juice, 1 Tablespoon Honey and add salt and pepper. Stir

I serve the dressing on the side❤️

I served this salad last night with my Cheesy potato soup, Recipe HERE, Garlic knots, and Buttered & Sugar Speciality cookies. A local Eden, Ut. Baker. As for drinks, I made a homemade Winter Sangria and a Mimosa Bar, along with a bar cart full of make-your-own cocktail choices.

Table setting = Kept it, Winter Simple, with a placemat, wood layer, soup bowl, napkin, place card, copper cup, and party favor.

Girlfriend time is so important, and how fun to get together for the Holidays with a favorite things party! The girls all brought a gift of a couple of their favorite things they’ve loved this year for a gift exchange. We draw numbers, and then you have the option to take a gift or open a gift… It’s so fun to see what the ladies loved this year! I brought A Beanie, Colleen Rothchild Hand cream, and a Jade face roller.

The Best thing about a girlfriend’s night is the time together and getting to chat and catch up. One of the reasons I keep the party small is 6-8 ladies, just the amount that can sit at my dining room table and enjoy a meal and each other. As I have gotten older, I have realized I love smaller, more intimate parties than the Big ones I used to throw! Don’t get me wrong, A Big party has its place, just not as often. Christmas Chit Chat and a Couple Recipes!

My favorite time of the year is finally here- Though admittedly, I’ve been decorating for the holidays since the beginning of November. (Annual Holiday Home Tour is Saturday on Instagram) Don’t worry, and I’ll be adding Decor ideas and this year’s Holiday Decor look HERE on the blog Sunday!

Our Chit Chat Chic Girls had a fun chat yesterday about some random holiday items, and we thought that would make for a great blog post. Quick & easy to read with some fun get to know us Holiday items. Do you do a red lip or red nails? A cookie swap? Have a favorite dish you take on repeat? Are you ready for the Holiday, or have you finished Christmas shopping? Do you host a party? Typical questions you ask your girlfriends, and that’s what we all are, right? Girlfriends… So join us in sharing our conversation. All of us answered the questions on TODAY’S blog post…I hope you enjoy the conversation! Let’s get to the Christmas Chic Chat…

1. Do I do a Red Lip? I have tried it, and I look like a hooker!! But I have friends, and my sister sport a red lip and looks fab. So, one Red that did work for me is by Tom Ford that I can pull off with my big lips that look good, and I wear it only this time of the year and in February.

2. Do I wear Red or Holiday Nails? I sure do love a good Red with Blue undertones, not orange. However, I love Holiday Nails as well. In November, I started sporting Red Nails, and I just had a Holiday manicure done on Monday!

3. Are you done with your Shopping? Yes, Yes… I am!

4. Do you Host a Holiday Party? I host a small girlfriend’s party year every year. A sit-down dinner, yummy drinks, and everyone bring a “Favorite thing” gift for an exchange. Personally, I like the smaller group to be able to chat, spend time catching up with each other.

I threw a BIG Holiday cocktail party every year, and it just got too Big. It was fun, but we’ve moved past those times in our lives and love things scaled-down and spending quality time with those we love on a smaller scale. Hence the tiny Girlfriend Party was born.

I also Host Christmas Eve, Christmas Morning, and Christmas Dinner! It brings me great joy, and I wouldn’t have it any other way. If you do not have anyone to spend it with, you are welcome at our home, As a full house at Christmas is a blessing.

5. What’s your Favorite “go-to” Christmas Holiday Appetizer? I have made this crescent roll dill cream cheese Appetizer for years, and it comes highly requested! Recipe HERE

6. Have you ever hosted a cookie swap? I have not. But I have Hosted a gingerbread house decorating party several times, and it’s an enjoyable party to have.

7. Favorite Christmas cookie? I love Shortbread my recipe HERE, and I adore German Rasberry thumbprint cookies made by Vera (my mom’s friend and client). These are massive labor of love, and she would make us 3-4 cookies each every year until we moved to Utah. ( My mom has the recipe, and I will get it for you)

7 Beauty Products I Used Up

My honest review of the product I’ve used up over the last couple of months. 7 beauty products I have purchased on repeat and worth giving a try.

1. Tula Purifying Face Cleanser = Probiotic gel-based cleanser removes dirt and impurities and makeup gently and effectively. Use morning and night. I have been using this product for over two years and love how it cleans my face. Not drying and indeed removes all makeup while leaving my skin feeling clean and fresh. This is a purchase again, in my book product.

2. Tula 24-7 Moisture= Hydrating day & night cream leaves my skin feeling hydrated without oily. In addition, it helps my dry skin. As I have aged, my skin has gotten dryer and needs this product. I have also been using this product for the last couple of years. I use it in my morning routine.

3. Tula Balanced Beauty Gummy Vitamins= Probiotics and superfood Gummie vitamins for solid hair, skin & nails. These Berry-flavored gummies taste great, and with Biotin & Folic Acid, I noticed a difference in my hair and skin. This product is my 3rd bottle, and I used it for three months to make sure I was giving it an honest review and to provide the product with a chance to see if it worked as it claimed. I will continue to use it.

4. Tula So Pumpkin Exfoliating Sugar Scrub= This gentle sugar & fruit enzyme scrub with pumpkin smells amazing, improves skins texture, helps unclog pores, and leaves your skin feeling so soft and radiant. If you love the smell of pumpkin and like smooth, soft skin, you’ll love this product. I highly recommend it.

5. Loreal Sublime Bronze self-tanning water mousse= A natural-looking tan in 4-6 hours, doesn’t have that yucky self-tanner smell, doesn’t streak, is so easy to use. Affordable and my go-to self-tanner.

6. SeroVital Suddenly Smooth Gentle RetinAll=Anti Wrinkle, visibly lifting cream for mature skin. 2% Retinol Compound Epidermal growth factor. You can use this product day and night if followed with sunscreen. It was gentle enough and not drying like a lot of products that contain Retinol. Although I did like this product for my neck, I did avoid using it on my cheeks, which tend to be dryer.

7. Serovital TriHydrate Concentrate= 3% Purified Hyaluronic Acid use Am or Pm before moisturizing. Hyaluronic Acid is an ingredient everyone should use in their skincare.
