Girlfriend time is so important, and how fun to get together for the Holidays with a favorite things party! The girls all brought a gift of a couple of their favorite things they’ve loved this year for a gift exchange. We draw numbers, and then you have the option to take a gift or open a gift… It’s so fun to see what the ladies loved this year! I brought A Beanie, Colleen Rothchild Hand cream, and a Jade face roller.

The Best thing about a girlfriend’s night is the time together and getting to chat and catch up. One of the reasons I keep the party small is 6-8 ladies, just the amount that can sit at my dining room table and enjoy a meal and each other. As I have gotten older, I have realized I love smaller, more intimate parties than the Big ones I used to throw! Don’t get me wrong, A Big party has its place, just not as often. DO you like to entertain? Big or small?

How to Create an easy Thanksgiving Dining Tablescape:

I wanted to share our How to Create an easy Thanksgiving Dining Tablescape setting with you. Because it’s not the traditional Fall feel with leaves and pumpkins, I went with a winter white, silver, and gold theme. And it feels elegant and warm. To give it a Thanksgiving feel, I picked up this fun silver pheasant from Target and added antlers and wooden details.

How to Create an easy Thanksgiving Dining Tablescape: Adding items

TIP: for adding layers to your Thanksgiving Dining Tablescape, find items around your home that work in your color/theme. Please pay attention to heights; find items from low to high, but not too high that you can’t see around it. I love pieces that are general and don’t scream a certain holiday so that you can use them more often. It helps for easy collecting because of items like glass, mercury glass, and solid colors like gold, silver, white, and red (red works for Christmas, Valentine’s day, and Summer). Pieces that give your table a glow like candles, votives, and candlesticks are great pieces to collect.

How to Create an easy Thanksgiving Dining Tablescape: Adding Layers

TIP: I love to share is to layer your tablecloth; this works great if you don’t have the perfect size for your Thanksgiving Dining Tablescape. Here I used a large plain white tablecloth that fits the table and to add a pop of design. I used the gold stripe meant for a smaller table, but you wouldn’t notice it doesn’t fit the table because of the layering. I also like to layer different tablecloths of different sizes if you don’t have one that fits! Just remember they need to be in the same color family for it to work.

Our table is for 8, yet I always buy everything in sets of 12. I do this in case anything breaks, or if I have extra people, we can make a kid table for 4 at our kitchen island. It is also because I am a little bit of a collector….(my boys are going to hate me when I die!)

I love collecting things to entertain and make life beautiful; I can throw any party at a moment’s notice because of the pieces I’ve collected over the years! So If you want to build your entertaining collection, keep following along with me. I plan on sharing more of my entertaining tips and collections with you as I have had so many of you ask for me to share this part of my life. Would you like a list of my basic entertaining starter kit? This would be the must-have items and then be able to build from that. *If so, please leave a comment below.

I love Thanksgiving and spending time with family and friends over good food, and I know you do too! So next time, make it a beautiful experience and share your love over a beautifully designed table; there is no better way to show off the hard work you spent in the kitchen. TIP: You can build your perfect table-scape weeks before to take the pressure off.

May you have a beautiful Thanksgiving, yummy food, and a great time with your family and friends. We’ll be having a Friendsgiving as all of our family is out of town. Happy Thanksgiving from our home to yours! OX, D’Arcy

PS: Are you excited for Black Friday, or do you stay home and put up Christmas? This is my first year not in retail for the Holidays, and I can’t tell you how excited I am! I’ll be staying at home to decorate and enjoy my family. I will be shopping a little online, and I can’t wait to share with you all the deals I found this week for Black Friday, Small Business Saturday, and Cyber Monday! My DEAL post will go live tonight at MIDNIGHT!

Create your own crowd Pleasing Chili Bar!

Create your crowd Pleasing Chili Bar!

A crowd Pleasing Chili Bar

Creating  your Chili Bar

My family loves a good food Bar, and creating a theme is easier than you think. So today, I will show you how to create a chili bar that is perfect for entertaining, feeding a large crowd, and being great for football season.

The steps you need to take

The first thing you need to do is pick a theme…See My Build Your Pizza Bar.

Today’s is Chili…

Second, figure out your recipe and toppings. Toppings are a big part of creating a Build Your Own, as adding all the toppings is part of the fun.

Third, figure out where you’re setting up and how much space you’ll need. (I use our second Island for most of the Food Bars I set up.) It has enough room for the serving pieces, toppings, and main dishes.

Fourth is how many containers you’ll need for topping, main dish, etc. I like to use containers that match ( say all white or, in this case, A Fall theme)

Fifth, if you want a theme, gather all the decorating items you may wish to use: paper goods, props, and things you may own that you can incorporate.

What type of food Bar are you creating?

Chili Bar, Pizza Bar, Burger Bar, Stuffed baked Potatoes? The Ideas are endless.

Now for the main dish and toppings. Find your favorite recipe and think of all the toppings you would like in that recipe that people could use to create their delicious bowl/plate. Your guests will have fun making combinations.

Here, I created a Chili Bar for Football Sunday, which would be great for Halloween as well. I love that serving all day is easy as people come and go.

I make two kinds of Chili. An all-meat chili, no beans, and a Turkey veggie chili. ( Recipes Here)

Make in crockpots early in the morning and let it simmer all day, even until serving.

If you’re not a cook, purchase chili at your favorite restaurant or grocery store. These days, the markets often have a great selection of soups and chilies in their delis.

A crowd Pleasing Chili Bar

Tips for creating an excellent Food bar!

Tips on Displaying:

  • Create layers/ height by using risers (can be a cup or bowl turned upside down)
  • Look at items you may own that can add interest and levels. Vintage scales, candlesticks, books, etc. (here I use
  • Pull items from around your home that fit your theme and will add to the character of your display…

Shop for great serving pieces below:

Great Chili Toppings:

Mixed Cheese

Mexican cheese

Onions

Green onions

Tomatoes

Sour cream

Fritos

Crackers

Cornbread

Olives

Jalapeños

Corn

Salsa

Hot sauce

Think of anything else. Add it! I like to have snack/ finger foods, so I added a veggie plate and dip and pumpkin chocolate chip cookies for a sweet treat.

More Tips to help you create a stunning Food bar

Above, you’ll see I placed all the toppings in white containers and some of the items in Fall baskets and containers, keeping the theme consistent and adding height with various trays, risers, log pieces as risers and trays, etc. For visual appeal, I added pumpkins, fall leaves, a pitcher of fresh flowers, etc., and paper goods or serving pieces that match.

Three More Helpful Tips :

Tip: keep your Paper goods or serving pieces at the end of the bar to control the flow in one direction. ( no line traffic jam)

Tip: Food Bars can be an easy way to entertain. If you are not a cook, you can purchase everything pre-made and still pull off a lovely meal without slaving in the kitchen, and your guests will never know.

If you enjoy cooking and creating as I do, you’ll have fun making items from scratch to feed your crew. Either way, your Food bar will be a hit.

Tip: Part of the fun is the display. Don’t leave store-bought items in containers (crackers inbox, Fritos in a bag, etc.) Instead, find cute containers to place them in.

I have shown the above crackers and Fritos in the basket. Baskets help give the appearance of homemade. ( You want the look of slaving in the kitchen all day)

No Cook Dinner, Perfect for Summer! Charcuterie Board

No-Cook Dinner, Perfect for Summer! Charcuterie Board

“Kitchens are made for bringing families together.”  Sunday dinner has always been an important part of our family’s weekly routine. When we lived in California, it was the day that ALL the family, grandparents, aunts, uncles, everyone was welcome, came over to enjoy a meal. A fun time to catch up on the week, spend time together chatting over a good meal: a special time and a special day. When we moved to Utah, our crowd was smaller, but the idea was the same, and over the years, our crowd has grown. Friends that have become family added girlfriends, and occasionally out-of-state family.

The importance of Sunday dinner and sharing recipes has become popular on my Instagram stories that I started sharing “In the Kitchen with D’Arcy” on my Sunday posts. Find HERE. I realized my blog following wanted more recipe content as well. With that being said, Sunday’s blog post will be dedicated to Recipes and sharing an occasional Family meal at our favorite restaurants, and showing our support for supporting local businesses.

Today, over on Instagram, I shared A great, No-cook Dinner…A Charcuterie Board perfect for a large crowd, a great Sunday dinner, with something for everyone. Tip: When creating your Charcuterie board, place items next to items that pair well with each other for easy pairing. It helps your guest know flavors that pair well together. See some of our favorites below.

No Cook Dinner, Perfect for Summer! Charcuterie BoardCharcuterie Board combos we loved: going clockwise from the cucumber.

  1. Cucumber and hummus
  2. Strawberry Jalapeno cracker, cheddar cheese, and Honey butter
  3. Strawberry Jalapeno cracker, cream cheese, and Strawberry
  4. Baguette, Beacon Fell cheese, olive oil, and salt
  5. Honey crisp Apple and Cheddar Cheese
  6. Salt & Pepper Triscuit, Old Amsterdam cheese, peppered Salami, and olive
  7.  (center) Naan Cracker, Hummus, and pepper

There are several other fabulous combinations. These are just some of our favorites. The Rosemary cheese is fab on the baguette, the goat cheese on the everything crackers.

Tip: When cutting celery stock for a  Charcuterie or another meal, cut the end off in one chunk. Save and use as a garnish(it looks like a flower and oh so easy to create. I like to tuck into my veggie trays and use them as decoration on my Charcuterie Board.

* Trader Joe’s was where I purchased most of the Charcuterie Board Items.

Sunday’s family dinner “ In the Kitchen with D’Arcy” is A popular Sunday series over my Instagram. I started sharing more recipes here on the blog as you; My following has been really enjoying. Thankful you like and create my recipes; I am adding more of my family’s favorite meals here on the blog for you to enjoy.  It makes me happy you are trying them out and sharing some of my family’s favorite meals with your family.

I love good food, great ingredients, and not slaving in the kitchen for too long, but creating a meal, my family would love.

Need a fast and yummy dinner? I hope you’ll try my Caprice a tortellini with Pesto Chicken! It’s a crowd-pleaser and perfect for Hot Summer Night. You can serve cold or warm, so it’s perfect for a potluck as well. It is a great meal to create under 30-minutes.🍽

I bet you won’t believe me!! Guess where I found I bet you won’t believe me!!

Guess where I found these Darling Lemon Plates?🍋

Would you believe the Dollar Store for $1.50 each…

They had matching dinner plates, bowls and mugs… But Honestly…

A Great TIP is just to buy the Salad plates… Having an assortment of Themed or decorative salad plates can really change up your regular china for the seasons..

It’s an affordable tip that goes a long way, if you have A solid color china.

Plus a salad plate could also be used for a bread or dessert plate.

I also like a little salad plate to serve a little breakfast muffin, bagel or croissant on….

You know I am a big advocate of romanticizing your everyday life and have a mixture of seasonal, yet affordable dishes can do just that…Don’t save your good china for “that” special occasion…. Use it daily❤️

Head to stories to see my inspiration for this weeks table, the floral arrangements I created for this week’s Flower arrangements for our home & Sunday dinner table scape… and what’s going to be on the menu for Sundays dinner 🍋

Drop it like it’s HOT…. Balancing Menopause and m Drop it like it’s HOT….

Balancing Menopause and midlife can be tricky✔️

From weight gain, mood swings, sleepless nights, dry skin and lady parts, hair loss, eyesight issues, bone loss to personal summers (hot flashes)…..

Boy hitting 40-50-60’s sounds fun 😅🤣 Actually, it really isn’t that bad, and life is what you make of it, Plus getting old is a privilege….

In today’s time, we’re lucky because menopause is a Topic WE TALK about NOW, and we have more information and resources to HELP us, unlike our mothers.

Not everyone has every symptom nor do they experience every symptom.

This is a topic I’ve shared a lot about over on my blog and in future more on my substack (join for free in my bio)

Below ⬇️ are a few things I’ve found very helpful from my journey over the last 10 years to now, starting at about 44 years old.

-A Homeopathic Hormone replacement specialist- I went at 44 when I gained 12-15 pounds for no reason, had hair loss and wasn’t feeling like myself and went on Bio- identical hormone replacement for about 4 years and the weight feel off and I started to feel like myself again. I stopped I. 2020 due to not being able to get to doctors..

-Start a good clean supplement program (not a Doctor) but here’s what helped me.
Magnesium- zinc- Vitamin D3- vitamin K
-a good women’s multivitamin -
B-12 shots- Collagen- Colostrum- bone marrow- probiotic, a cranberry supplement and - creatine - NAD- primrose (I have a few others I take as well) full list is on blog

- Doubled my water intake - (140-160 oz a day) added Fiber- chia seeds- pinch of salt to it … (I do 1/2 teaspoon baking soda twice a week)

-Daily walks and I added a weighted vest about 4 years ago

-A cup of warm lemon water to start the day

- I shoot for 100 grams of protein daily (I don’t always get this) I just try to get close

-Scalp treatments - Rosemary oil and rosemary supplements

- Coolnight pjs and cooling sheets I don’t get or experience hot flashes, but sleeping cooler help me sleep better❤️

- cleansing oil & after Shower oil help with dry skin

-Red light therapy mask helps facial skin and neck

- Derma-planing face helps skin texture and for products to sink in
Melanoma Skin Cancer Journey Here’s a couple thi Melanoma Skin Cancer Journey

Here’s a couple things I’ve learned on my Journey that I thought I’d share with you I found interesting and very helpful..
( now, I am not a doctor) these are things I’ve researched and though I’d share my findings, but you can do your own research :)

I share in hopes to bring awareness and the importance of getting your skin checked at least once a year.

‼️ 2 things:

-The importance of taking zinc— zinc supplements helps your body give off a natural defense to the suns rays.

⚠️ Like anything I need to stress how important it is to read your labels and start using clean Supplements. You want to get what you’re paying for and not “fillers” verses the actual minerals and herbs.

- A clean beauty mineral based
Sunscreen with a high level of Zinc! READ your labels and the ingredientsll

MOST sunscreens have harmful ingredients and hormone disruptors in them! I have 5 brands I love that me and my family use over on my Liketoknowit or you can comment “shop” and I’ll send them to you.

To know:

⚠️ I get my skin checked twice a year and since being diagnosed with melanoma, I now go every 3 months.

Since my surgeries, I’ve had 2 laser’s treatments to help with scaring (shown in slide 2 is my 2nd surgery) done 6 weeks ago.
I actually should have my 3rd laser done this week, but I moved it to July 1st.

To be honest I really am not in the head space to deal with another treatment this week! 🙏🏻 I told you I’d be very honest with you in this journey, and it is a roller coaster of emotions… Laser treatments sometimes trigger that for me.

- Laser treatment can be done every 6 weeks

⚠️I have 6 parts of my journey up in my feed, 3 of them pinned to top the others you’ll have to scroll through feed and I have detailed highlights as well.

I hope you find these helpful

POV: The Turkey sandwiches I make All summer long POV:
The Turkey sandwiches I make All summer long my family loves🥪

Not your ordinary Turkey, Avocado, tomato sandwiche🥪🥑🍅

First off the Key to these delicious sandwiches is warm crusty bread straight from the oven yet soft on the inside..

My tip is a French baguette ran under water (a tip my Mother in law taught me 33 years ago) placed in the oven for 5-7 minutes- seriously, makes it like you made it fresh…

-Boards head spicy pepper Turkey freshly sliced from the deli
- Farm Fresh Tomatoes salt & peppered
-Micro greens (or sprouts)
- Peppered jack cheese (or your favorite)
-My Smashed Avocado spread
